Bringing Metal to the Children: The Complete Berzerker's Guide to World Tour Domination

Super funny and witty
First off this is not an autobiography or even close. Second its loaded with dry humor so if you have no sense of humor you will not like this book.I read a lot of musician biography’s and sometimes need a break from the “I was born here, there were my parents, I was in kindergarten, tough childhood, etc”. This book from the cover and first few pages makes no bones that this is a fun satirical book.Zakk has always been funny in any interview I have seen so I knew it would be enjoyable but never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did. Hilarious. The self-deprecation with in the jokes makes it hilarious. I rarely laugh out loud but I did several occasions in this book.I have hung out a few occasions with JD the bass player wherever he was in my town and the fact Zakk busts on JD the entire book is funny only for JD to retaliate at the end of the book.If you are looking for a change from the normal musician books and ready for some way out their self-deprecating dry humor then this is the book! Waiting for volume 2!

Zakk Wylde
I am an official member of BLS & the Doom Crew Inc... so this book in a lot of ways is more than just a good read... it relives some of the greatest stories ever told in rock n' roll by the legend himself. Zakk is a down to earth guy... but who lives life 100% in the moment and with pure passion and intensity... whether he's melting the faces off thousand of berserker's in the crowd, being a family man or telling and sharing in great stories of the road and life in general. This book goes into detail some of the most classic stories, the BLS mind set and way of life and how to live your life and dreams out to the fullest... all with pure comedy as to not take yourself and life too serious. Great book for any BLS or metal fan who would like to get a good look into the life of the Zakk and how all the hard work he's put in from his beginnings in NJ to being Ozzy's right hand man all the way through Black Label Society and it's world domination that's earned him the respect of all in the music world.

Strangely Awesome, Very Funny
I can see how people might not like this book. It's not like other rock memoirs, and I've read a lot of them. But I thought it was an awesome book, and I'll explain why. This book is not to be taken seriously. It's not a full autobiography of Zakk's life. It's very sarcastic and over the top - done on purpose. Only a certain personality type will find this type of humor (sarcasm) funny. I laughed out loud about 100 times. It took me about 15 pages before I "got it."How it differs from other rock memoirs:It explains Zakk's trials as a heavy metal musician from the time he picked up a guitar, until now.You just picked up a guitar? Zakk talks about that. You just formed your first band? Here's what you do. Here's what you DON'T do.You want to start touring in a crappy van? This is how to get it done. You want to become famous? Here is how you do it.Once you become famous, then what?Trials of the road. This is how it's not like other rock memoirs. While other musicians only walk about themselves, he takes his experiences and tries to help us mortals out.Also...He's a role model (I think) on how to be a real man. GIFD.

An unapologetic look at music.
As a member of the Indiana chapter of the Black Label Society, I found this book to berequired reading.Zakk takes you on a tongue-in-cheek (or tongue in anus, as Zakk would probably call it..) adventurethrough the music business and the Black Label Society. The humor may not be for everyone. It is full of swearing and homosexual references, but people that love this type of music andunderstand the character of Zakk Wylde will fully grasp the humor involved.Zakk lovingly molests you through several chapters versing from what a Berserker is to the history of theBlack Vatican to how to survive while on tour as a musician. The stories shared in this book are worth theprice of admission! To find out the music business IS as bad as everything thinks it is, well that's priceless.A hilarious read, I very well suggest this book to anyone that bleeds Black Label. Or Rock 'n Roll.

A refreshing and fun read, and it's METAL.
I read a lot of books about music and the people who make it. Zakk Wylde is not the most interesting in this topic and he seems to know it by the way he approached this book. He definitely has some great stories but the bulk of the book is about making it in the business and staying there. From the first note of No Rest For The Wicked in 1989, as Ozzy's guitarist Zakk put himself on the map as straight ahead metal guitarist who walks the walk and continues to today. He lays out his whole life philosophy, faith, failures, and success as though he is sitting you down for a one on one. There are many moments where Zakk Wlyde should have been a finished product and left to roam in the valley of has beens, but he kept at it and shares his story with us in a way that will have laugh out loud and keep coming back for more.

for those who want to rock...

Zakk, Prince of Metal and Mayhem
For those of you who like Zakk Wylde, this is an absolute must have.Since reading I haven't stopped laughing, it's typical carnage from the metal god and he leaves nothing for the imagination. The book covers subjects very honestly such as his drinking, touring with some of the greats and of course his relationship with Ozzy.Brutal, brilliant and a simple must have.
