Very cool product and pretty well made, all things considered. However, mystery price increase occurred
Very cool little product, and works exactly as expected! I have not tried the charging features, but the lamp works really well. Would have got a full five stars...However, I am removing one star due to a price increase. I purchased this lamp for $51.99, and now they have increased to $59.99 (only 2-3 weeks after my purchase) for no apparent reason. It is not a huge increase, but one that seems completely unjustified. I was planning to buy more, but will reconsider another brand due to this.In terms of the construction quality, my only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to swap the plastic latch for a metal version. I could see this breaking in the future. But other than that, excellent product!!In terms of the amount of light emitted, I cannot measure this exactly. However it gives a decent enough amount of light to play cards by or have dinner. You could probably read by it as well, if you were the only person using it, and pointed it directly towards you. When on a table it gives beautiful mood lighting, but not something I would say you could work with (i.e. work on a document or crossword or something). You could try but you might find your eyes straining a bit.

BACK IN THE DARK
I purchased this item for camping actually but recently after a storm and we lost power, we decided to use this for lighting instead of burning up batteries in our flashlights. We lit the tea light candles and in a moment we had light. We were very happy until after about 10 minutes, the candle was still burning but the lights went out. We waited until the next day and after our power was on, read the instructions good, worked with the lantern and still could not get it to burn for more than a few minutes. Seems like if you are depending on this lantern, you'll soon be BACK IN THE DARK !

It works but...
I wanted a candle powered LED lamp like this but didn't want to pay the 100$ for the other brand. My only complaint is that it doesn't work with the standard tea lights that Ikea, CVS, etc. carry. I needed to modify the holder so it could use standard tea lights. I was an engineer so it was fairly straight forward for me, but for the usual consumer? This would be a bad idea as breakage would no doubt happen. I have a machine shop - most do not. It's sad because it wouldn't have taken much to make these lamps use standard tea lights.

Great value and useful for emergencies
Takes about 20 hours of burning candles to fully charge the battery, for recharging phones our other devices, but it will produce usable light after only aminute or so. I really like that it can serve as an emergency source of light that doesn't depend on batteries (which always seem to be dead when you REALLY need them. Tea light candles are cheap and keep in storage forever.

LEDs are too white, power charger doesn’t work, takes 4x as long to start up.
I like the original manufactured version of this. Some features added by this mfg were appealing, but it just didn’t work as well.

Very pleased
Great lighting and for the price is a great buy. I am very pleased with this product. There have been some comments that the tea lights don't fit but I differ to those remarks. I have bought a pack of 50 from a famous pharmacy that starts with "W" and they fit perfectly. Also the waiting time for it to work is very quick. I haven't used it as a charger so I can't comment on that aspect.

Non standard tea light candles ruin this
WARNING: This does NOT take standard 1.5" tea light candles. The several tea lights that come with the unit are 36mm and NOT standard 38mm. IKEA tea lights do NOT fit and CANNOT be "made to fit"! I am very disappointed that standard 1.5 inch (38mm) tea lights do not fit. All tea light candles that I search for are 1.5". Otherwise, it works and works well. If it took standard tea lights I would give it 5 stars. But this is a flaw that cannot be ignored! IKEA has tea lights at 100 for less than $4.00. I will probably return this as I am not going to spend more money than that on tea light candles, assuming I can even find 36mm candles, (which, so far, I cannot find at all).

Worked great initially. Doesn't light up nearly as quickly now and doesn't seem like it gets as bright as it did earlier. I think it may have carboned up inside and, if that's the case, I'm not sure how to clean it out.
