DJO 79-81407 Procare Prowedge Night Splint, Large, Female 10.5-12.5, Male 10-12 Size

This is the third night splint I have owned, and is by far the best. My first splint was the black one seen in the picture. It provides great dorsi-flexion, but the hard plastic frame is intolerable. I am a side sleeper, and the frame in contact with my other foot or leg was uncomfortable. I had difficulty falling asleep with it, and typically removed it in frustration in the middle of the night. The second splint had a strap from the toe to the mid shin, supposedly to support dorsi flexion. I bought it partially due to the low cost. What a waste, it was a joke. My ankle would slip out and end up in plantar flexion, so it was useless. I would include a picture of it, but I threw it away. The Procare splint is very soft, there is no hard surface to irritate me. I wear it comfortably all night. It is not as confining as the hard plastic splint, but at least I keep it on. I am a runner and have recurrent issues with plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis. For plantar fasciitis, I have also found rolling my heel on a frozen water bottle or a golf ball helps. Stretching helps. It is slow to recover from, be patient.

I bought my first ProCare dorsiwedge night splint through my podiatrist and it took me ten years to wear it out. I was thrilled to find the same model was sold on Amazon.Pros: A night splint can be used during the treatment of plantar fasciitis and/or Achilles tendonitis and to avoid its re-occurrence. This type of tendonitis is caused by short calf muscles. Both conditions frequently re-occur and you must be vigilant to avoid their return. This model can be used on either foot and does not come off during the night. My husband used it too and walked in it (not recommended) without breaking it while another splint broke immediately when weight was applied. The cushioning makes it comfortable and the degree of stretch can be increased with the wedge. Any night splint is a non-invasive option to NSAIDS and allows you to stretch while you sleep if you are too harried to do it during the day.Cons: It is bulky and it complicates turning over in bed. But, it keeps your foot and calf warm in winter. If you are using it for maintenance, wear it more in the winter and less in the summer.

I ordered this product after a physical therapist suggested this item and this brand. I have had plantar fasciitis for the last 6 months and nothing else has helped. The first morning I woke up and could actually put my food down w/out much pain. Not everyone will respond this way, but it has been very helpful. It’s been a week and is continuing to help me heal. You can get up at night and walk to the bathroom in it, but it’s not meant to do much more ambulation then that. Great product!

These are OK. They're more comfortable than other night splints, but they sleep a little warm. They don't flex your foot quite enough, but I've had others that flex it too much. They need to push a little more from just under the toes to give a better flex.The big knock on the Dorsiwedge is that they do not hold up long. I ordered them 3/12/16 and today 6/18/16 they are getting to the point that the Velcro does not hold. I would expect a product like this to hold up for at least a year.

Very comfortable (especially if worn in bed overnight), and keeps foot at desired angle. My only criticism is that after a couple of years, the velcro on the straps wears out, and doesn't connect on the first go. But I guess a couple of years isn't all that bad in these days of planned obsolescence.

New condition, great product! Replaced my 6 yr-old DorsiWedge.
