So due to that I am giving them the rating I believe they deserve for taking care of their customers.** I bought this monitor and camera set 6 months ago based on the good reviews. This is a fairly pricy set and today my monitor totally crashed. It just had a software update about a week ago. Now without WiFi it’s totally useless. I am very upset and of course the return window is already over. I recommend this set to all 5 of my sisters in law 3 of which are looking for a good monitor set. I will be telling them not to bother and I hope this review helps others as well. I am really upset about this happening because before this I really loved this setup.
Review: Great camera for twins - I scoured the market for a baby monitor for my twins. I could not find a monitor with two cameras, wi-Fi capability and good reviews. I finally decided to just go for a wide, angled single camera and saw this had good reviews so we bought it. Honestly, there’s really no downfall to this camera. We have loved it and it has been perfect for us. The clarity is good enough for what we need. It has night vision and you can zoom in on each baby. We love the feature for sound detection. Our babies were very noisy sleeper so we would turn the volume off and just have the sound detection on so that we wouldn’t hear every single noise and we could get a little bit of sleep I love being able to check in if I’m not home or if I don’t have the monitor right in front of me, the app is easy to use. If I had to give it down fall, probably the only thing I don’t like is that the app does not record for longer than a few seconds and you it refreshes after several captures so you can’t go too far back and you can’t save anything .

**Q: Which type of additional camera should be bought?**
A: I bought 2 sets in order to get two cameras. Use the monitor and go to the menu, once there click Left, Left, Right, Right, then "Talk". This will open a new menu that will allow you to pair a new camera. I was able to add the 2nd camera on the monitor! It only allowed to add up to 2 cameras in my monitor, tried with a third one to no success.

I have 3 of them working in my phone with no issues!

**Q: I work nights and would like to be able to check in on them . Does the app work miles away via phone app also ?**
A: Yes, I am in the US and my dad can check it on his phone app in Canada

**Q: Does it have background audio for the phone app? Example: open the app, switch to another app, can you still hear the baby audio?**
A: No. App needs to be open

**Q: Can you access the camera via phone app only? Want to use it remotely to check on elderly parent. No need for local. Do you have to pair parent unit?**
A: Hi - The parent unit of the VTech VM901 is automatically paired with the baby unit. You ca access the camera using the app as long as it is connected via WiFi. Thank you for your interest!

So far this has worked great. Straight out of the box, plugged in camera and monitor and they synced automatically. I haven’t installed the app on my phone yet so I speak to that. Also to early to speak of the battery life, but as long as you have both units are plugged in this shouldn’t be a problem. Picture quality is good, the camera is PTZ ( pan, tilt, zoom) and the audio quality is great. I bought this for elderly care so I don’t really care about the music option it has. I hope the app works well on my phone, even without knowing that I’m rating it a five star. This is probably the best baby/elderly monitor out at this time.
