what is the diameter of the unit?

I used this to replace a 6"/9" burner in my GE Range model JB400DPBB. I purchased this item in October of 2012 and it has been functioning perfectly since.

is this element 2 sizes in 1, meaning you can use 5 inch or full 9 inch?
