I'm a Saint in the Making

Really Teaches Kids what a Saint is
Bought this for my 5yo daughter. This book does a great job of teaching the concept that our daily choices and cooperation with God are what makes us 'Saints' or 'Saints in the making' as the book puts it. 1 key concept that my 5yo latched onto was the concept that by saying a prayer or offering up our work or even singing - we can make ANY task a task that we gratiously do FOR God and because we love God and our family. The next morning after reading this book -- I heard my daughter singing to God as she cleaned up her toys. She's only 5yo so the lyrics to her made-up song were simple and repetitive, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that she understood the concept and applied it - that she was singing to God and turned a manual task into worship.

First Page Had Me in Tears
At dinner, my husband and I have been sharing books and scripture with the kids while they eat. This book came in the mail today, and I was excited to share it with them.I opened to the first page and almost broke down in tears. I hadn’t read a single word, but the illustration of this family moved my heart. This is us.The illustration was of a multicultural family just like us. I’ve never seen that in a book before. And I didn't even realize how badly my heart needed it.The kids loved the book. Every page there were audible comments:“That looks like me!”“Mary Magdalene is on my wall!”“I can be a saint?”@lisahendey and @katiebroussard THANK YOU. This book is beautiful. We are each the image of God (imago dei). The call to become saints is a difficult one to hear, a difficult one to answer, and a difficult one to even understand. Books like this make is possible to hear that call and to see it come alive within images that reflect the imago dei in each one of us.Thank you for giving me a place where I see all the shades of my own family. I am so excited for every person that adds this book to their library.Young or old - you are indeed a saint in the making.

This book encourages goodness and kindness on every page.
I purchased this book for my 2nd grade religious education students for Christmas. So well written and illustrated with many good suggestions about how to be good, kind and caring. One of the best children's books I have purchased in a very long time.

Children need to know (as well as adults) that we are all called to be saints!

Beautiful message
Beautiful illustrations and text. My only issue was it was very long for my first graders. They enjoyed it but it took a few days to get through it.

I couldn't love this book more!
As a 2nd-grade catechist, throughout the year I teach about what a saint is and introduce my students to a variety of saints. This book does that and so much more. Lisa Hendey makes that critical connection as to why saints are important--they are role models and prayer champions and how we can be saints too. She blends everyday examples showing children how they can be a "saint in the making" in their lives while weaving in a variety of diverse saints from around the world. I couldn't love this book more.!

Beautifully written and illustrated
Pope Francis, in 2014, reminded usl that we are all called to be saints and we do that wherever we find ourselves in life. Lisa Hendey and Katie Broussard have produced a beautiful resource for children and families to creatively explore where God is calling them, to use their gifts and talents, to discover, like the saints, his perfect plan for their lives.

This is something every catholic kid should read
I'm a catechism teacher and I brought this for my students. They loved it and I'm going to order more for other kids in my Parish.
