MLCS 9327 Woodworking 36-Inch Flexible Curve Ruler

I didn't expect to like this that much, it is just a ruler...I thought...but it is the neatest thing. I am drafting patterns and this ruler will make my life so much easier. I will be able to use it as a pattern weight as well. Also, when cutting or pinning fabric, what a super way to keep the fabric still and not get off track! It is truly a must-have! The price was perfect, better that any store had them for, so if you are considering buying one, I found this to be the best. It is high quality and has a heavy weight to it for tracing and cutting. I would recommend this to everyone, no matter what you measure, it holds it's shape. Others had said it did not, but it is working very well for me. 10 stars!

Use it for woodworking and it's great

So ordered this for a project where I needed a pretty big curve. This product as advertised looked like it would work. My dissapointment was that the curve had kinks in the product that will not allow you to make a fluid curve. I used it and will probably use it again but if I lost it I wouldn't buy it again.

I used this to make a withers tracing on a mare for a saddle fitting. Now if you're not into horses, that means nothing to you. But if you are, this flexible curve was perfect for the job. It stayed in place, kept its shape well. I removed it from my mare, placed it on poster board and traced its shape, it held well. I would recommend this for that purpose. or any purpose that required a flexible curve that will hold its shape.

Wow! If you sew clothes for yourself or for anyone else, this is one tool you might want to consider. I wish I had this Flexible Curve Ruler when I started sewing. One of my problem fitting areas is the arm scythe - I need a size 8 armhole and a size 12 bust. Using the Flexible Curve Ruler, I can accurately take my shoulder measurement and accurately transfer this measurement to my patterns. And I don't need a pal to measure me nor do I need to be a contortionist! Great tool for home sewers.

Easy to use. Holds it's shape well for larger curves.

I bought this item because I didn't want to get one with lead in it. However, this one isn't stiff enough to hold the curve once it is established. It loses the shape once you move it. I can still make it work for the main use I have, but it's more problem than I thought it would be.

Definitely do not get this to transfer a pattern from one place to another. You can form it into a shape, but there is substantial spring back (inches even, at the full length) and it won't hold its shape even under light movement. I suppose it could be useful if you took a series of measurements along the curve you wanted to copy, and then used this as the flexible equivalent of a straightedge to draw the curve.I am pretty sure that this does not contain lead, which is kinda, ya know, like, important in this sort of tool for it's ability to easily bend to and keep a shape. I guess I should have made sure there was a prop 65 warning before purchasing.
