Helios Unbound: Pagan Theurgy to Connect to Your Higher Genius
J**.
Transformative and Magical!
Nick Farrell describes Helios Unbound as, "a purification and consecration process which leads you to contact an entity called the Higher Genius (Divine Self)." This work is a paganized way to accomplish the Abramelin Operation (which is highly Christian based). Helios Unbound will appeal to modern pagans looking to unite with their Higher Genius in much the way the Abramelin Operation does for Christians.I deeply appreciate the attention to details and the innovation in transforming rituals such as the Golden Dawn's Ritual of the Pentagram to fit within the books philosophical underpinnings and the pagan versions of Eliphas Levi's Elemental Prayers (here calling upon Greek Deities). Magical works such as the Headless Ritual from the Greek Magical Papyri are utilized as are other sections from that same work. These different magical tools are integrated with each other in a seamless manner to cause potent magical effects (spiritually and materially) of the one performing the rituals. This work is user-friendly and describes each ritual, meditation, invocation, and astrological workings in great detail. However, the work is not easy and for the person performing it the daily work will be intense (6 to 18 months of deeply spiritual workings designed to transform the person to be ready for Divine revelation, conversation, and integration of their higher divine self).I highly recommend this book to those that want to take their magic deeper and experience a greater connection to the Divine.

Nice book to own for a Pagan approach to theurgy
I like this book so far. As a lover of Iamblichus and Hellenistic philosophy, theology, and traditions, I find the book informative on my own personal practice. I’m debating if I’ll go through a strict working on the book alone but I’m mixing it with what I’ve learned through Golden Dawn material, grimoires, scholars like Skinner, Kingsley, and others informed on the Greco-Roman and Chaldean-Egyptian roots of Mediterranean Magic. Though I love all traditions, including the heavily Judeo-Christian influence on GD workings and Renaissance grimoires, I like Farrell’s straight-forward approach and emphasis that the Abramelin method and an Abrahamic approach is not the only way to bond with one’s HGA.

walla walla bing bang!
Regarding the 1st edition (in case there ever is a 2nd edition or beyond)...Littered with hundreds of typos (some very confusing) and unexplained jargon that assumes a large background knowledge. Extensive astrology research is required, and I doubt its efficacy.Readers are instructed to burn candles and incense, draw air pentagrams and hexagrams, call upon a dozen angels and gods with arbitrary mythological names, and to mumble goofy phrases that, if you don't know Greek, are reminiscent of “ting tang walla walla bing bang oo E oo ah ah.”My advice: forget reading these 400 pages of mediocre drivel and do this much simpler protocol instead:When you wake up-pray to the personifications of Benevolence, Well-being, and Wisdom and ask them to help you reduce suffering and increase well-being in the world.-for 5-10 minutes visualize some highlights of your upcoming day with things working out mostly as planned. Before you go to sleep-Think of 1-5 aspects of your day to be grateful for, to make you happy.-Pray for dreams that will help you solve problems in the real world.

Theurgy is extremely important to me
Theurgy with intonation and echoes of some divinity is important in the Golden Dawn Tradition. It's important to me and a path I still follow today. But not for everyone and not the only way. Very refreshing perhaps a minimum requirement for a magical path to follow and or study.

The Most Impressive Theurgic Contribution of the 21st Century
The author is one of the more experienced in the field of solar Western Mystery tradition. It is very detailed and it works. It's exciting to find this caliber of magician branching out and pioneering a unique and new method of spirit magick. This work squarely puts the author on a short list of those who push beyond traditional expertise to create a work that is effective and new. It is excellent.

Highly recommended
Mr. Farrell skillfully created a system that has the operant encounter their Higher Genius using methods derived from both ancient and modern methods. The reader is being given all that is necessary to succeed in their endeavor, the system itself being a crescendo of meticulously planned operations meant to bring the candidate closer and closer to success with each completed level.Besides the original goal of the book, it can also be used as a guide for planning stand alone rituals with the various forces presented inside, using the specific invocations and methods within. Many occultists can make use of it regardless of their experience and background.
