awesome knife
I received this knife and was very pleased . It arrived razor sharp out of the box . It feels great just holding it and i found myself not wanting to put it down . I love the spydie hole for one handed opening . The reviews on the vg-10 steel have all been great and so far the edge has held up well . An awesome knife . Buy one , you won't be disappointedUpdated: As a newly converted spyderco fan , Let me warn all readers. I am not responsible for the money which you will spend after buying your first Syderco. Blame Sal for making such great products . Now on with the review . The Delica legacy has been around for a while now (now on version 4 ) and their is a reason . These are fantastic knives well worth the money. My Delica is a saber grind that was , as usual, razor sharp out of the box . I've had this knife for a couple of months now and I use it for e.d.c rotating out with a Byrd meadowlark . Have I sharpened it in this time , yes I have . Did it need it, not really , but I like sharpening my knives . There is nothing I can find to say negative about this knife . So if you expect this to be a Spyderco bashing ,It's not gonna happen . I think this is the perfect knife to start with for anyone wanting to try a Spyderco .The VG-10 steel is an awesome steel that will, not only hold an edge , it will get extremely sharp with the right patience and a light touch . I re-profiled mine to my lanski which varied the30° bevel ,that most Spyderco's are, slightly smaller and it is very ,very sharp. I usually finish up with a light stropping on the leather . The knife holds up to everything I do as a maintenance man on a daily basis and begs for more . Those of you who have not held a Spyderco , all I can tell you is it's very addictive . It fits in your hand and just feels right , I find myself reaching over and opening and closing it for no reason all the time. It really annoys the wife . The finish on this knife is superb . the blade is dead center with no side slack. The lock is solid and very smooth . And if you haven't used a Spydie hole , let me tell you it is a very smooth deployment of the blade . Way better than thumb pegs . The FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) handle is very comfortable and offers a secure , non-slipping grip . The jimping on the spine of the knife is just enough not to slip , but not enough to hang on your pocket . I personally don't like a jimping thats to aggressive and this one is not . The clip can be installed tip-up ,tip-down , left or right hand . I just can't find anything that I see that needs changing . If your undecided about buying a Spyderco knife , then spend 50 bucks on this one. You won't be disappointed P.S. And like I said , When you find yourself with Syderco knives laying around you everywhere , It's SAL's fault !!!

Outstanding blade quality - even better than the usual Spyderco excellence. VG10 Japanese steel. Lightweight at 71 grams
At first I was skeptical, as my Kershaw Leek was easy to deploy. But I had a collection of CRKT, Spyderco, and other knives - and the Spyderco blades (whether 8Cr13MoV or otherwise) were always the best. They always came out of the box razor sharp, kept their edges, and were easy to maintain. I decided to give the Delica 4 a try since the blade was under 3 inches and its advertised weight was very low. That is primarily due to the fiberglass reinforced nylon handle with thinner/reduced weight liners molded into the nylon. The material is very similar (if not the same) as the Dupont Zytel Nylon used for seat belt buckles, M4 stocks, Glock receivers, intake manifolds, and a large variety of common composites that are durable. The VG10 steel is made in Seki City Japan, and comes out of the box razor sharp. Feeling the edge with my fingernail, it is very very smooth. It glides through paper and the blade material even looks/feels different from common Chinese knives. The handle is bolted on, but this just allows you to customize how you want to clip it - which is a huge plus in my opinion. The price is a bit higher than the average everyday carry knife, but it is worth every penny. The Delica 4 weighs 71 grams. Kershaw Leek weighs 88 grams. Spyderco Ambitious G10 (2.25" blade) weighs 85 grams. So the Delica 4 is lighter than either of those knives, which are already fairly light and compact.Overall: 5/5 starsSpyderco hasn't failed me yet. I wish I knew about the Delica 4 sooner!

Quality Japanese Made EDC
Great EDC knife. I carried the original version for 35 years until I lost it in a theater. This 4th generation is much improved. The metal clip holds it more securely it in my pocket. The black finish on the blade is a nice touch. I was pleasantly surprised that it is made in Japan. It is a high quality piece.

I purchased on OKC RAT 2 and really like it. That knife is well weighted
I purchased on OKC RAT 2 and really like it. That knife is well weighted, came razor sharp & it is extremely smooth with 1 handed opening. It is right at 3" though, which could be problematic in L.A., depending on the mood of the police officer. So after researching, I purchased the Spyderco Delica 4. It is a great knife, the blade is just under 3", but the handle has a little more real estate than others of this size. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. I deducted a star, because it is no where near as smooth to open out of the box as the RAT 2. It does have a lock back vs the liner lock on the RAT 2, and I'm hoping it will smooth out with use. It can be opened one handed, but it's just not smooth or fast at this point.I had to come back and adjust my rating to 5 stars on this Beautiful & L.A. legal Spyderco. I initially deducted a star because it wasn't smooth opening. Well, after playing with it, opening and closing it for a few weeks, this knife has become very smooth! I also get the bidirectional grip on the handle, very ingenious! The grip nearest the blade bites into your fingers if you push forward (meaning, if you are pushing the blade into something, it provides 'traction' and your fingers won't slip!) On the other end of the handle, the direction is reversed, so it bites into your fingers when you have the knife clipped and you are reaching to pull it out, you get a good grip! - Love this knife!

First Spyderco knife
This is my first Spyderco product. I ordered the Delica 4 and I'm very pleased with it's feel, and fit and finish. I purchased the saber grind model with the black frn. The only thing I was concerned about before receiving the knife was how the frn would feel, and I'll tell you I'm impressed with the grip and feel of it, it feels high end.
