Very well built reels
Great reel and a blast catching fish with the 2500. Indian River Lagoon area, Fl. Turns a battle with a 5lb redfish into a real challenge! I also have a 3000 and a 4000. Mounted on Star Seagis rods. Absolutely great set ups for Inshore fishing The Indian River Lagoon/ Mosquito Lagoon area. Over the last few years, Penn has really stepped their game up. I also have a couple of Penn Slammer III reels too. Great quality reels! Rinse them after each use especially if fishing in saltwater, oil and grease as needed and you'll have a great, dependable reel(s) for many years to come.My humble collection of Penn reels and yes, even some Penn rods. I used to be on Star Rods pro staff so I do have a few Star Rods as well...

Penn knocked this one out of the park
I bought 2 of these reels, the 2500 and the 5000. I matched the 2500 with a Fenwick HMG rod and put the 5000 on a Shimano Trevala. First fish on the 2500 was a 26" Red Drum. Absolutely love these reels! They are quiet and strong. The drag system is very smooth and strong. The 2500 is as good as my 4000 Stradic. Highly recommend!

Well made and light without sacrificing performance
Got Penn Clash2 for ChristmasSet Up with Ugly Stik 9” and 30 pound lineFirst cast I landed 24” red fish and two more after. I also own Penn Slammer 3500 and 4500 but this is a lot lighter without sacrificing performance. I ordered one more for my wife. She uses Shampoo Stratic and I am sure she will love this one better

The Penn Clash line continues to impress.....
This review is about 60 days in the making...... bought this at the end of August 2021 and wanted to put some ample time for testing this before leaving a modest reviewFirst off, the reel is light as a feather, and as smooth as butter! I was really impressed with the Gen III line of reels for Penn, particularly the Battle and Clash models. I have used a Clash 4000 for over 4 years and since it needed some repairs, went with overall upgrading to the newer Clash II 4000. So far it has been spectacular. Has been great handling some mid-larger class fish, including a 35 inch striped bass from shore. It is spooled with 15lb power pro super slick v2, and has been a delight to fish with. I was especially impressed with the larger EVA knob option that they provide, along with the stock handle. That way you don't need to spend an extra $20-40 bucks on a larger knob handle, or Slammer III handleSmall con I do have, is with the line roller. Seems as though if it is not slicked up enough, it will make a scratching noise upon retrieval when there is resistance on the line (even something as simple as retrieving a lure through the current). Little bit of oil seems to have helped, but drew some concerns given that I have not even had this reel for a couple months. Also $230 is a bit of a steep price jump, whereas the Battle reels are about $100 less and also viable options for light tackle fishing. Even the older Clash models were in the $150-180 range..... so hopefully the price can come down a bit in due time when newer reels are made availableWith the line roller, and price in mind, I unfortunately have to knock it down a star. Hopefully the line roller is the only flaw I observe with this reel..... otherwise it is a solid buy

Shushing and Grinding Noise on retrieve
I purchased the 2500 model. I spooled it up with 20lb braid and took it a few times to fish. For some reason, this specific reel would make swooshing/grinding noises while retrieving while loaded. When there is no load on the reel, it winds and spins without ANY noise, smooth as butter. But once you have something on the line, it continues to make a shushing sound while reeling. I greased it and still noises. I don't know if this one I got is a lemon, but I returned it, and ordered the same reel. I'm hoping this second one has no issues.

quality reel
Might as well pay a bit more for a reel that will last. Great so far.

Don't buy Penn reels! Windknots!
So this is is my second Penn reel. And both of them has the same issue. Windknots! This one was fine for 2-3 months then the problem started. First I thought it was the line that was twisted,so I changed it for a new.. But still same problem. None to very little wind so that's not it..
