Dairy is expensive - try this stuff.
I am a very picky eater. It started at the age of 1 1/2 to 2 years, I never grew out of it. That being said, the Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder is an excellent replacement for fresh dairy. It's shelf stable, you only refrigerate leftovers. Has all the characteristics required for baking or cooking with milk as an ingredient. The only thing I haven't mastered are puddings in the J box. For some reason, it's not as simple as adjusting the liquid measure, which is water, after making sure I incorporate the two powders (J boxed powder and Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder together. It turns out runny, or turns into gummy paste. Blech. The hard for me to master J box puddings are the cook and serve. Instant puddings don't have the same issues. I use a hand mixer, or my food processor. Either works. Although the food processor is faster and powers through lumpy liquids, making them smooooooth. (lol)Overall, in spite of the J box mishap, this product works a treat. If you are trying to save money, like I am, by reducing the amount of food I end up throwing away, I have an empty milk jug that sits by and waits to be filled half full of store bought, liquid milk. It doesn't matter whether it's full fat, 2%, fat free, or any milk substitute. To start, using the recipe recommended on the can, 1:1 ratio of milk powder and lukewarm water. It will be lumpy, but the more vigorous the stirring, and a pass through a sieve to get the teeny tiny little lumps, you'll have a cheaper milk product in your fridge. The milk powder also works well straight out of the can as a dairy creamer for coffee or tea. The powder likes warm to the touch water. It will be lumpy in cool, cold water, and performs the same in water that is too hot. Yes, I get lumps in my coffee and tea, but they will dissolve as the temperature drops in your cup.Cooking with Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder is easy peasy, add the powder to your dry ingredients and mix well. Too well. You can't over-mix at this stage. Add water to the liquid(s) used in your recipe, calculated from the amount of powder added to the dry ingredients. I sieve the liquid directly into the dry ingredients. Mash out the most egregious lumps, passing it through a second time with liquid reserved for this purpose. It's not really necessary, as I haven't had any lumpy gravy or cream sauces using Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder, but I do it anyway. As for taste. It tastes like milk. I have never been a milk drinker, but I do eat cereal. There is a slight flavour I can't pinpoint, but it's not bad. Disappears if dividing and adding to your milk percentage of choice. Also, much better tasting when icy cold. My daughter puts her smaller 1/2 gallon container in the freezer, partially icing up the container. She said she can't tell the difference. And there you have it. A very satisfied customer, indeed!!

Your family will never know
I purchased this product to make homemade mixes and for cooking, but one night I realized that I didn't have milk for in the morning so I mixed some up. I was pleased at how easy this product mixed up and quick, and when we tasted it in the morning I was very surprised at how good it tasted by itself. Grandkids had it on their cereal and never knew it was powdered milk. It works great in baking, soups and gravies.

Excellent product
I bought this 2.5 Kg can of Red Cow to keep with our emergency supplies, unopened. But I also bought a 900g can to try it out for myself. It is very, very good. Sweet and creamy like fresh milk. But, in my household it's not going to replace fresh whole milk for our daily use - for one thing, because of the price. But it is an excellent substitute when we run out and don't want to make the trip to the store just for milk. And I'm guessing mixing it at double strength will make for an acceptable replacement for half-&-half in my coffee. And since we only expect to use it occasionally, I transferred the milk powder from the open can into sealed Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers to extend the shelf-life. The little 1/2 pint bags that come with most Mylar assortments is perfect for holding 1 cup of powder, which is the right amount for mixing up 1 quart of milk.Contrary to the experience of many reviewers, neither the big 2.5 Kg can, nor the 900g one arrived dented.

Better than regular milk!!
This powder milk is awesome. I’ve tried several brands. This one dissolves super easy and taste creamier fresher and better than regular milk super convenient. Also, I even sent a can to my parents and they love it. Highly recommend. I wish they made something comparable in the US as Iwould rather support our farmers, but there’s no comparison to the other brands I’ve tried.

The product is great - but can incredibly dented
I love this product!! I have it on subscibe and save, but the can I just received this past week is INCREDIBLY dented. This really defeats the purpose of having for long-term storage. I am going to have to open and either use, or try to repackage for short-term. I will wait on the next order to see if this was a one-time issue, but if I receive another dented can, I will have to stop my subscribe and save subscription and look for another product.Update: I received this month's subscribe and save and the can was dented as bad, or worse, than the one I posted pictures of on my initial review. I love the product, but I have canceled my subscription since grossly damaged cans seem to be all I would be receiving.
