Excellent 2-line corldless phone
I am running a business with 2 phone lines for many years now and phones have always been a problem for me. I found that all cordless phones degrade or stop working after a couple of years, so I went through several different brands and models which I can repport here for you. My comment on the VTech is the last paragraph. Starting 1999 I had a 2.4 GHz Siemes Gigaset and that was the best phone I had, it was stylish, very well organized and functioning. Unfortunately, wireless computer networking exploded shortly after and swamped this frequency band that no cordless phone at 2.4 GHz worked well any longer. Features included phone book copy amongst the different hand sets. I had two sets of different Panasonic 5.8 GHz phones, and all were really bad. Voice quality was horrible and something stopped working in a short time. One is tempted to buy Panasonic because they have the largest selection of models. But don't be fooled by that! I could not buy Siemens because they retracted from the 2-line analog phone market, they only offer VoIP stuff, but I am not ready for that yet. I had a Motorola 5.8 GHz for a couple of days and let me tell you, this was the worst phone I ever had, it was even much worse than all Panasonics. There would be not enough space on the Amazon server to write down all the details :-) Then I had a 5.8 GHz AT&T phone and I really liked voice quality and workmanship. But all hand sets had different numbers in their phone book because you cannot transfer the phone book between them; I just could not keep up with this. Also, the functionality was not very intuitive. Finally I got his VTech phone, and I must say that I am impressed. I wanted to have a DECT 6.0 phone because I believe this is the best frequency band for cordless phones. This phone looks great, has excellent voice quality, has an intuitive menu setup, and it has a very competative price. And what I like most which no other phone ever had: You program a number into your phone book and it is available instantaneouly in all hand sets. Only thing, they should have memory for more than 50 numbers. I have this phone and 4 hand sets since Dec 2009, and the only thing I hope is that it will be reliable. As soon as I have an issue I will update this review, so if you don't see an update, that is more points for this phone.

Good Cordless Handset!!!
I recently invested in a phone system with two lines and three extra handsets. I made this purchase to replace my old phone set, which failed me after a short period of use. The phone system I chose is exceptional, as it offers a range of features that meet my needs. Firstly, the system is straightforward to use. I had no trouble setting it up and navigating through the menu options. It even has a user-friendly interface that allows me to customize my settings, such as ringtone volume and LCD screen display. Secondly, the phone system has an impressive range. I can make and receive calls from anywhere in my house without experiencing any connectivity issues. This is a significant improvement from my previous phone set, which had a limited range. Lastly, the phone system produces crystal clear sound quality. I can hear my callers loud and clear, and they can listen to me without any interference or static. This is especially important as I often use my phone for work-related calls. Overall, I am delighted with my purchase and recommend this phone system to anyone needing an upgrade. However, this is not a significant concern for me, and I am even purchasing another handset. I'm particularly impressed with the handsets' battery life. Even during lengthy phone conversations that have lasted over an hour, I haven't encountered any issues or complaints. Of course, I can't predict the future, so I'm still determining if the batteries will deteriorate soon or in the distant future. Ultimately, I'm happy with my purchase, and I highly recommend this phone system to anyone seeking a reliable, efficient, and user-friendly option.

Not a bad phone, could be more durable though.
I have 4 of these that we use in an auto shop. 1 work well, 1 needed a new battery after a few months, 1 the ringer died within a couple weeks, the other developed screen issues in about the same timeframe. The paint wears off of the buttons pretty quickly too. Still usable though. I'll probably try a different brand next time.

There are only a couple of brands left of cordless phone and this works as well as any other
There is not much competition left in cordless phones (especially those that don't patch into cell phones and especially 2 line phones). This is a declining segment as are landline phones in general. There are, as far as I can tell, only 2 other brands left and one of them (AT&T) is also owned by Vtech and are the same phones with a different label. But this phone is the latest standard (DECT 6.0) and seems to work pretty well or at least as well as any other DECT phone. Don't expect miracles - these are meant for short range transmission. You are not going to get reception a mile away. But for most people all they want is for them to work in all parts of their house and these are good enough for that. Without changing the star rating, I would like to comment on Amazon's Warehouse Deals condition ratings. I ordered several of these phones on Warehouse Deals in supposedly "Like New" condition. Most of them were true to their rating. However, one phone that I received was clearly someone's old, broken phone. Not only was it filthy but it was non-functional. Whoever rated this as "Like New" was clearly not checking very closely. I can imagine that the inspectors are pressed to go fast and not spend a lot of time rating each product but even a cursory inspection would have revealed that the phone was not "Like New". I'm sure that they don't test if the product actually works but you could see the wear and tear and filth on this phone from 10 yards away. This has happened to me lately more than once, for other products as well. Plumbing fixtures that were rated "like new" when in fact it was clear that they had been removed from the box and installed and then returned with scratches and so on and were "acceptable" at best. I shrug it off and return the product if it is not as rated (especially if it is totally non-functional or missing parts) but that still creates inconvenience, delay, etc. The customer is not supposed to be Amazon's unpaid quality control dept. Amazon needs to make sure that the Warehouse Deals condition rating system is working as intended and that "Like New" products are really in like new condition because lately they have been far from it. The phone that I received wasn't even in "Acceptable" condition let alone "like new".

problems with keys!
I had this phone for just under a year and having problems with the number pad... two of phone both had the number 3 fail!! Not like I use the 3 key more than others. I work in a office and I have to hit 9 every time I dial outside and that one still works fine... disappointing! I thought it was just a fluke, but then I traded mine for a different one in the office that is rarely used and am having the same exact problem with it too.... in order to delete messages I have to press 3 and it only worked after several attempts on my part... I really liked the phone up until this problem... not sure I will try Vtech again....

Reliable and Convenient Handset for My Phone System
I purchased this to expand my DS6151 series phone system. The DECT 6.0 digital technology ensures clear sound quality, and the large lighted display makes it easy to use. It was simple to set up and integrated seamlessly with my existing system. While I wish the battery life was slightly longer, the overall quality and functionality make this a fantastic choice. Highly recommended for anyone looking to expand their phone system!

Terrific scalable phone system for home!
I moved into a large house and needed a solution for having quick access to a phone in several different rooms. This is a great solution. I have eight phones strategically placed throughout my home. They all wirelessly connect to the same base station in my den. My base station has a land line plugged into LINE2 and an Ooma brand, voice over IP (VoIP) line plugged into LINE1. Occasionally (every couple months) one of the phones will lose connection with the base. Unplugging the battery and plugging it back in always fixes this. The caller ID is nice, but like all I have tried, it takes a couple seconds after ringing before the number shows up. The speakerphone is convenient and easy to use. The intercom feature is nice, it allows calling a specific phone if you know the phone ID (index starting at 1). So if I want to call my master bedroom, I intercom HANDSET 2. That means I don't want to mix up my handsets. The handsets show their ID on the display, but we added labels with the room name. Intercom also lets you find a missing phone if you haven't let the battery die. A weekly check that they are all in place seems to keep them from dying. I REALLY wish there was a P.A. feature that let you make announcements using all handsets speakers at the same time. Sadly there is not.

Adaquate 2-line cordless phone
The Vtech DECT 6 we purchased (Base and 7 handsets), are a replacement for a 5 year old Uniden 5.8 GHz system which worked well, but the batteries were on their way out and we were looking for a bit of range improvement. We've had these DECT phones for about 3 weeks now and they definitely do have better range--at least 2X. They lack some of our old Uniden's features like a carry clip, earphone jack and nice ring tones. The Uniden's had a wide selection of good sounding ring tones ranging from classical to modern music snippets as well as many ring variations. Not so with the Vtech's. They offer a minimal number of harsh and mostly unpleasant choices. You will be hearing the phone ring a lot during their lifetime and if you care about the sound they make while ringing, check out the current Uniden DECT4066 series. I am assuming that this newer model still has the nice ring tones our old one had, but do check. Another missing item on the Vtech's is the ability to label the handsets by location (Kitchen, TV Room, Bedroom, etc) instead of "Handset 3". This makes the intercom feature more difficult to use. The voice quality is OK, the speaker phone is loud enough, the blue LED keyboard backlighting is nice when calling at night. It's also nice to have a centralized phone directory that shows up on every handset. We have phone company voice mail and don't use the answering machine. The Uniden's had a handy blinking red light on each handset to let you know that you had messages waiting. This Vtech sports only an obscure icon on the normally dark display to let you know that you have voicemail. The lightweight charging base only has two very small rubber feet to keep it from sliding and the front 2 feet are part of the hard plastic shell and can scratch wood finishes. Battery life seems fine so far. Unfortunately, as an industry it seems that cordless phones still use the cheaper, NiMH battery technology rather than switching to the higher capacity Li-ion type. So why didn't we buy another Uniden? In retrospect, The Uniden DECT4066 would probably have been a better choice, but we did save about USD one-hundred and ninety on the Vtech DECT 6 with seven handsets. There are not very many choices if you need a two line cordless phone and as other reviews have stated, paying more doesn't necessarily mean getting a better phone system. That said, even though we have not had a chance to evaluate it, I'd recommend that you check out the Uniden DECT 4066 as a more expensive, but better featured alternative before settling on the Vtech.
