I lifted the cooking surface off and simply reached inside and held the nuts while inserting screws from the outside and tightening them. **Q: We bought this griddle to hook up to our camper trailer's propane system. Instructions say not to do that? Why is that?** A: Maybe a safety issue. I use a separate propane tank and bought a splitter to attach my grill and griddle works perfectly. The important thing here is that you can choose if you want the griddle or the grill without unscrewing and screwing the propane. **Q: can you use a 1 lb propane tank and would you need a different hose to connect it?** A: I use my 20 and 30 Lb tanks. It says in the description to use 20Lb. A friend has a Blackstone like this and he can use 1 lb tanks.
