Hello, This product is designed to simply be flushed down the toilet to treat the septic system. However if you'd like to leave this product in a sink or tub drain you can simply dissolve the pod with warm water in a cup and then pour the solution into the drain.

does this break up calcium buildup?

Green Gobbler Septic Saver doesn't break up calcium buildups. One of the best reported method is to: Pour a pot of boiling hot water down the drain. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda down the drain. Wait a few minutes. Pour 1 cup of Distilled White Vinegar and 1 cup very hot water down the drain. Cover the drain with a plug to keep the reaction from foaming out of the drain. Pour a pot of hot boiling water down the drain to flush everything out. Repeat this process for every sink drain, shower drain and bathtub drain in your home.
