KitchenAid KHB2561OB 5-Speed Hand Blender, 8", Onyx Black

As I didn't have a mixer, blender, food processor or immersion blender, I bought this bells and whistles hand blender to do it all and save counter space as well as money. The blender was on sale which made it just a little more expensive than the hand blenders without all the attachments so it was a very good value for me.This is my first hand blender and I've made a couple of hilarious newbie errors such as starting to whip cream when it was set to the highest speed and getting cream all over the place (and me) as well as not understanding that the onion for the salsa I was making in the processor could really be chopped that quickly so I kept processing and ended up with minced onion instead of chopped. Other than my lack of expertise, the blender works just as I'd expected. It's great to have the five speeds.Not entirely pleased with the ease of cleaning the wand adapters as they can't be immersed in water and are only supposed to be wiped to clean. It's understandable that the unit with the motor can't be immersed, but the adapters are going to get dirty. Soap was required to properly clean off the appliance after my cream-whipping accident and it was hard to rinse properly by wiping. It would be great if all the parts were waterproof, but I'm guessing this is standard for hand blenders, particularly at this price point. By the way, the blade attachments can be fully immersed and are dishwater safe.Forked out the extra bucks for the extended warranty as some reviewers had problems with the parts wearing out.

I have been a KitchenAid owner for many years. My stand mixer is a joy to use, and I have the pasta attachments so I can make fresh fettucine and ravioli. I also make fresh egg noodles for my chicken soup. I use my bread hook every week and the other attachments - cake mixer and whisk - make my life easier all round. I just purchased this KitchenAid Immersion Blender and WOW is it fun to use! I can now crush ice to make frozen limeade, I can whip cream, beat eggs, blend cat food....there is no limit. It's very easy to disassemble and keep clean. I love the storage case as well...the attachments are where they are supposed to be and I can just go to the drawer where it's stored, and I know it will be ready when I need it! Love KitchenAid.

I purchased this product for my husband who has been wanting one for awhile now. He was only looking at the basic ones in store so since it was a gift I splurged a little bit and got him one with extras. The one I bought was the contour version that had everything included except for the second longer shaft. I figured most of the time he won't need that and if he decides later it is something he needs we can purchase it separately. Most of the time he's working in smaller pans, bowls and dishes. So far all the pieces he has been using work just as described and he is really enjoying learning all the different ways he can use it. It kind of overwhelmed him at first with all the pieces and figuring out what they can do but now that he's been experimenting and learning he's finding what they can be used for and finds them all to be great accessory pieces. His main uses right now are creamy soups and smoothies. He usually juices and then uses some of the juice and various other ingredients in the regular blender to make me daily smoothies. However the regular blender recently stopped working in the middle of him making a smoothie. At first he was worried about what to do, then he remembered all the stuff he has been using this hand immersion blender for and decided to see if it would work to finish up the mix and it sure did! He was so happy that he had this on hand. He is trying out so many new recipes now that he has it and thinks it is a wonderful product for any kitchen to have.

Was concerned at first because of the reviews not being higher and the wattage only being 75W compared to the 300W claimed by another with a higher rating but unfamiliar brand. Package came quickly, chose this one because of being sold by Amazon which stands behind whatever they sell and because the product was a name brand everyone knows. I also prefer the twist vs the push button to release the blades. Loved the idea of having 3 blades to choose from if desired. Comes with a case for the attachments which is a bonus.But as for the function - there is no lack of power - I liked the idea of pushing one button to operate it and release it to stop instead of the two buttons on others. I put a banana in water with powder mix and never noticed a hesitation in the motor and all was blended in just a few seconds to liquid smooth with no clumps at all. When turning it on in the drink it feels like a magnet pulling it down due to the strength of the turning blade. Used the S blade for my purpose. Wife was initially dissapointed using it but found she forgot to pull off the blade guard all of the blades come with - after removing it she was impressed with the power. Both of us are very satisfied with the purchase. If problems arise I will post them as well as we are new owners.

Great product! Resistant, powerful, with good performance and even after years still works well.
