If you want to use an normal tripod mount, it will most like hit the base of the plug cover so you will have to use some sort or tripod screw extension, small plate, or combination of the two. The 2nd issue is that the goPro Hero 5 will sit cockeyed in the case due to the tightening screw on the side. Even if the screw is completely removed, because of the pad (assumingly put in place due to earlier complaints about the screw damaging the camera body) once you put in the plug and cover, the camera will still be tilted in the case.
