My Life-Plan for Parenting - Workbook

Do you want your teens to be engaged in planning their life? If so, this is the tool to use. I'm writing as an educator of over 30 years who has seen "My Life-Plan for Parenting" used in high school health classes. This isn't just about what it means to become a parent. This workbook helps teenagers understand all the areas they need to consider before deciding to become a parent. Teenagers learn how to set life goals and the steps needed to meet those goals. They learn about making a budget and the cost of taking care of a child. Students are engaged and inspired to discuss the different areas covered in the workbook. Students who complete "My Life-Plan for Parenting" show a commitment to finishing school and pursuing a career before becoming a parent. It's a great addition to any high school health class. I also highly recommend it for parents of teenagers as a way to open the door for those difficult, but necessary discussions that help their child set a course for achieving their goals.

This curriculum addresses topics and engages young people to seriously consider and see how they can have a level of control and planning through their choices. A streamlined workbook causing them to consider all that is involved in parenting, measure how prepared they are and lead them in their own thought process of how to make and follow through on the decisions that support their plan for parenting.I love it because it's plain speak, has a facilitator guide, yet leaves room for preference and specific philosophies to be interwoven by the teacher or parent.

As a researcher who has evaluated many nonprofits that work with at-risk youth, ESP is one of the few organizations that is well-designed and organized. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate for youth, the language is modified for youth to have a better understanding of the material, and the workbook engages youth in critically thinking about how they can apply what they have learned from ESP.
