Awesome for field work in direct sunlight
I don’t know if any other field service techs know about this umbrella, but I’ve bought 3, over a 15 year period. The only detriment to having one is the Power of the Sun and wind, against the size of the umbrella! I should probably store mine inside a tube mounted somewhere on my service truck. The UV and rain and ice, tend to ware the cover material out and it shreds or rips easily. I tie the opened umbrella to the back of my truck while working in direct sunlight, especially in the Texas summers. Other times I tie it to the equipment I’m servicing. EZ setup and “break down” with HD zipties & bungee cords. I like the vents to allow a little light and heat ventilation.

purchased 8/2020 still using it 7/2025
I bought this umbrella back in August 2020, and it’s still going strong in July 2025. Just wrapped another beach weekend with it—flawless, as usual. We bring it every single time. It’s been everywhere, used hundreds of times, and it’s held up like a champ. I added one of those umbrella hooks from Amazon that slides on the pole—great for hanging towels and gear. Setup? Stupid simple. Pull it out, twist the base into the sand, pop the top on. Just pay attention to the wind unless you want to reenact Mary Poppins across the shoreline. I switch between upright mode and what I call “tent mode” for windy days. Just tilt it, fill the sand pockets, and boom—rock solid. It shrugs off gusts like it’s no big deal. Yeah, the zipper windows corroded shut years ago—but I never used them anyway. A few threads around the support arms are loosening, but after six years of beach weekends, that’s a badge of honor. Still works perfectly.

Good quality
Good quality. I had this umbrella opened on my balcony and exposed to the sun, rain, wind and humidity for over a year. Just recently it finally ripped , but it definitely lasted much longer than I expected.

Quite the process to setup
Kind of a lot of work to set up. Especially if you are by yourself with more than one kid. It's a nice shady space once it's set up. Roomy, breezy, and UV protection. When my husband is home this is awesome. When I'm alone I may or may not bring it out. Its not worth having to leave this unsecured to go get my toddler from the waters edge while youre setting it up. At first I couldn't set it deep enough and it toppled backwards on another family while I was in the water. I felt terrible and they were pissed. Mostly user error but they could make the instructions more dummy friendly. I'm not sure if I would recommend this or not.

Track Mom Essential
For those meets where there is no grass and only bleacher seats, this is a great option to keep you and your family cool and protected from the sun. It is pretty large and easy to put up and take down. Might require bungee cords when using in the bleachers.

excellent beach umbrella
Only thing it needs is better stakes. For the size it is easy to carry, easy to set up as one person unless it's extremely windy. Durable and well designed.

love this umbrella!
I recently purchased an XL Umbrella Shelter to provide some much-needed shade during hot soccer games, and it has been an absolute game-changer. Watching my kids play on sunny afternoons is far more comfortable now, thanks to this expansive canopy of coolness. The shelter's size is its biggest advantage, providing ample shade without blocking the view of other spectators. Setting it up is a breeze – it pops open with ease, and the sturdy base stays put even when the game gets intense and the cheering gets loud. It's also surprisingly lightweight, making it easy to carry from the car to the field. The fabric quality deserves praise; it's thick enough to block out the sun effectively but still breathable, which means sitting under the shelter doesn't feel stuffy or claustrophobic. The UV protection is also a significant plus, as I have peace of mind knowing that we're shielded from harmful rays. Another handy feature is the tilt mechanism that allows me to adjust the umbrella's angle as the sun moves across the sky, ensuring continuous shade without the need to relocate the entire setup. The inclusion of side flaps for extra sun protection is thoughtful and useful during the peak hours of sunshine. However, on particularly windy days, additional anchoring might be necessary to keep it grounded – a small concession for the overall benefits it provides. All in all, this XL Umbrella Shelter has been a fantastic investment for our soccer season. It's durable, user-friendly, and provides a haven from the heat, making those weekend games something to look forward to, regardless of the weather. A solid addition to any sports parent's sideline gear.

Older versions are better. Quality decreased
I had an older sportbrella for over 10 years and I loved it! We used them all the times under some harsh conditions with no issues. The only reason I needed new ones was because my old ones started to get holes in the fabric. Ill start with positives. Great size and easy to put up. Newer is not better. I decided to go back for another 2 sportbrellas and the new design and the quality has completely disappointed me. Let me say where we are at the beach we cannot lay these on the ground and must be used as umbrella. 1. There is no top vent on the umbrella. When the wind hits it is a solid hit to the top and with no top vent the space under the umbrella gets hot. 2. Yes there are the windows but if you click the sides to the top connection you completely cover the windows. 3. If you roll up the sides there is no longer the velcro strap to keep them in place. With no velcro strap you use the tie down but that is only on one side and the sides constantly fall down. 4. Quality is lacking. We had the ropes attached during a slightly windy day and the inner poles still bent! Come on sportsbrella . My older 2 had much more wind with no issues. 5. The screw in bottom broke the first day. I used to sing the praises of sportsbrella but the upgrades are degrades. Hopefully they will go back to the quality and designs that work for beach use Needed.. stronger poles. Put the velcro straps back to hold the sides up. Vent the top of the umbrella Stronger umbrella prongs to keep the umbrella from bending

Fantastic umbrella/shade
Worked great at the beach this year. In shelter mode it was fantastic, I got compliments and even a few interested buyers! Umbrella mode was great too, and the tie downs kept it from going all over the place in wind (umbrella is large so it catches a lot of wind) I HIGHLY recommend getting some separate stakes for this. The ones that come with it, the simple metal J stakes are essentially useless. The more robust ones that come with it are okay. I found the standard tan coloured Coleman stakes you can buy at Walmart worked 100X better and even in a 20km/hr wind directly into the shelter it had no problems staying up. The extra tie down ropes that come with the umbrella are great but be warned they are HARD to unclip from the D rings once attached. Took a lot of force. Maybe just tie down with your own line. These are the only complaints I have which aren’t an issue yet but I can see them becoming one as time rolls on: 1) The auger bit is plastic as others have mentioned. When twisting hard into sand, I’m always worried it’ll snap. Wish it was metal. 2) The lever you clamp down to hold the inner umbrella pole in place to the larger bottom pole with the auger tip is a little weak. I could easily pull the entire umbrella out while it was clamped down. Any serious gust of wind could too. Thankfully you have tie downs. 3) material is thin nylon stuff as usual. I just fear for its longevity. No issues yet.

Not solid enough for windy days
I only tried to use it once in 12 knots of wind, it turned inside out and bent. Very disappointing and my return window was closed
