I dislike the openings; the attitude seems self-conscious, putting on a cool pose that is removed from the actual story, which isn't too bad. To me the main characters are lacking in depth. Interesting mythology. I can't give an wholehearted recommendation.

Love it!
I first read these books when they first came out and they seemed so relevant to the time while at the same time were like Lord of the Rings. Maybe you have to love the concept that magic can be out there now.
