Roku TV is a great smart TV system. Good picture. Good value for its functionality.
This is my second TCL Roku TV and I love it. The Roku TV operating system is very easy to use, and it manages all TV settings and smart TV functions. You can add and remove channels on the home page, and you can customize what happens when the TV turns on. I set it to start on cable TV so it works just like a regular TV until I want to use the smart tv apps. Netflix works great on it. Picture is good and I like the easy to adjust brightness levels. Nice for a dark bedroom at night. I was surprised to see I could cast to it from my android tablet right away. So I was able to push a youtube video to the TV instantly from my Android tablet. Very cool.

Just what I was hoping for.
I was really surprised by the quality of this TV. I've had a Samsung Plasma, a Vizio D series, some random budget brand TVs, and a Vizio E series. I went in on this set based on reviews for the smaller set. I'm very pleased with the quality. I don't have any streaming issues like I did with my Vizio. The picture is crisp unlike the random budget brand TV. I'm not completely crazy about the speaker quality, but if speaker quality is a breaker for you then you probably have a separate solution for that. My favorite part is that the contrast and shading in low lighting/fog situations is excellent. Any TV I've ever had that wasn't super high quality has had an issue with black/grey/fog. It would come out blocky and just unable to mix the colors into something that looks reasonable. This set handles that wonderfully, even when the source is streaming over Wifi and not a direct connection to some local media. I'm enjoying it as a relatively cheap and decent TV for the bedroom.

Only lasts 1 year and costumer support is no help
At first it was a great tv. Easy to set up and program. Than a little after a year it stopped working. Middle of a show the screen just went black and never came back on. I tried everything to get it to work and ended up calling costumer support. They said if it’s over a year old than your out of luck. To bad sorry for the waste of hundreds of dollars. So buyer beware, great tv is you only need it for 1 year

Great value for a spare tv.
I bought this TV for a spare bedroom that didn't have a lot of room. This is only used for guests, so it doesn't get a lot of air time. I really enjoy Roku and the ability to connect it to Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. so they can watch movies. I'm happy with the purchase price and quality for it's purpose. It's obviously not as good of a picture as my 4k TV, however it does have a good picture for 1080p. The sound quality is also good. Notice I'm not saying great, however I'm very pleased with my purchase. I've had much worse experience with TVs in the past with picture and sound. Some may not like the remote, however it's perfect for watching streaming TV. I don't have this hooked up to cable/satellite or other devices since the applications are enough. I'd be happy to purchase this product again.

Good overall features and value for the money, with one fatal flaw
Good overall features and value for the money, nice picture when you can adjust it, and OK audio. The Good: Light weight, good # inputs, has wifi, remote is easy to use (for me--other reviewers have complained about it!), OK sound The Neutral: Sometimes takes 10-20 seconds to turn on (like the old vacuum tube TVs!). Turns on fast if you just turned it off, it probably is slow once it has gone into deep sleep, which is OK for me. The Roku is not as responsive as Roku 2, it's slower, but acceptable. The WIFI dropped off in the middle of movies a few times, with no way to re-establish it except to turn the set off and on again (I can't remember, but I don't think I had to unplug the set). Some of the channels, fortunately, remember where you left off in a movie, so you can start back right away. One fatal flaw: you cannot adjust the picture for any of the streaming channels, you can only adjust the picture ("movie" mode, color balance, etc.) for inputs (HDMI, AV, antenna inputs). Which means if you're watching netflix, amazon, espn, plex, any other streaming channel, or anything on your USB drive, you get the harsh washed out "energy saver" screen mode. Photos and movies do not look as nice as on my old LG TV. UPDATE: while streaming (the movie must be playing, not in the menus where you choose the movie or channel), you can press * to change the picture mode. The TCL support folks did not know this, I called them twice to ask how to change it for streaming channels and for the "Roku Media Player" channel. I'm upgrading the ratings from 3 stars to 4 stars. Shame on the support staff for not knowing this, and shame on the UI designers!!! :)

Very good quality for the cost
Got this TV in quickly and it was packaged very well. Very good quality for the cost. Strong and fast wifi signal. If you want a cheap smart TV with a good quality screen then you should get this. Built in sound is nice and loud and clear. Don't expect super sound but it does great in a room environment. The interface is easy to work with and to modify as you wish. It is a simple device that does what it says and provides you a smart TV experience without a giant cost. You really can't beat the quality of the screen on this TV in this price range.

Smart tv, dumb design flaw
Purchased two of these on Amazon's Prime Day sale. So far so good. Replaced a brand new tv from Best Buy that was fine until I turned the sound as high as it would go and it came out tinny. Which the salesperson said was because I didn't pair it with a sound bar. I disagreed. I think it's a pretty simple principle that if your tv volume goes up to 100 it should work well up to 100. Sound bars simply amplify existing quality. I digress. Enter the TCL 40in Smart tv. At it's highest it has excellent sound quality, clear sharp picture image and user friendly settings. Assembly and connection took less than 30 minutes for both, without help from my honey. My only issue and it's a big one for me, is that the hdmi ports are placed vertically near the bottom of the unit. What's wrong with that? I'm glad you asked. Take a look at the picture accompanying this review. See that rectangular depression on the lower right? That's your hdmi port. They must not have any common sense courses at MIT because why in the hell would you design a space that was specifically included for attaching media hardware without making accommodations for the size of hardware it's meant to house? In anticipation of this purchase, I had 2 alexa 2nd generation firesticks waiting for new homes. Guess what? Can't use em. "Alexa, find me an electronics Engineer who can do basic 3rd grade math" returns no results. Nothing was wrong with my 20 year old fatbacks. The only reason I bought smart tvs was to replace the cable mafia with firesticks. You will be able to install a 1st gen (original model) firestick on this tv. You'll need a metal ruler, some nasa-level precision and a pitcher of sangria. Via con Dios.

Awesome TV!!
The TV looks great and runs very well. The initial install part was easy and I had no issues getting it linked to my Roku account. I am using WiFi and there does not appear to be any speed or connection issues. I removed some of the default HBO APPS and removed movie recommendations, so my kids wont click on them. I am very happy with this purchase and I am glade to not need the separate Roku box. The initial boot time is a little more then mos TVs, but at the same time it is not extensively long and for a smart TV I find it pretty fast.

Buen articulo
