If your dog got a running start and came to a sudden halt at the end of the line either by you locking the brake on the retractable or by him running out of line, it would snap his head around. There would be a great likelihood of doing damage to the neck. **Q: What size is best for a cane Corso?** A: Size 5 fit my male Great Dane at 1yr old (about 130lbs then and pretty lean). I only used it for a couple months before we realized we needed a prong collar for walks, so I can't say whether it would still fit him now -- 155lbs fully developed, well-muscled. Depending on your Cane Corso's age I'd probably go with size 5 as they are really muscular, really large dogs. It's easy to put on him. It took a little experimentation to get the fit right. It cannot be tight enough to interfere with his ability to pant and breathe. This Halti keeps us both safe, as I have the leverage to control him so he can't pull me down or away when he wants to chase deer. I don't believe it is uncomfortable for him, as he willingly inserts his muzzle into it when we get ready for a walk. It's definitely worth the price. I do advise to NEVER leave this on your dog when you are not walking it.
