Replacement for Handi Multi-Cut Multi-Cut 3-7/8" (5) Replacement Blades &1 Anvil 401 37251 37301 Craftsman Compatible 40178

I'm giving this 5 stars even though I had to make a modification, but it's not the products fault. I have an old Craftsman Handi-cutter, model 9-37201 (pictured). The blade was chipped up and rusty from use and the anvil was crushed. Found this replacement and it works great with extra blades! Modification I had to make was the hole that secures the anvil in the frame was smaller than the original and the screw wouldn't pass thru the hole. This was easily remedied by running a 3/16" drill bit to bore out the hole and it fits like a glove. Good quality material and made tool like new.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:This fit an existing cutter that I have. I was delighted that it came the very next day after I ordered it. I was even more surprised that it came with a replaceable anvil besides the blades.

As someone else mentioned, the screw hole in the new anvil was a little too small for the mounting screw. It was in exactly the right place, just a bit too small and was easy to fix.This was a simple way to bring a neglected tool into a fully functioning state.And this is not what I'd grab for pruning trees or any other branches. These blades are made for soft, pliable materials without twisting forces. For trees/branches, "bypass pruners" are excellent.

I had no idea I could get parts to repair my old trusty Craftsman Handi-Cut tool. This is a quality tool that was made in the USA and will now probably out live me. The repair came with extra blades and a new plastic bottom jaw. The old bottom jaw was gold in color and damaged from use with a dull blade. This tool was a gift from my brother many years ago, could be more than 30 years old for sure. It's like a new tool, very happy.

It is exactly what I needed. The five blades will last me a long time, and the replacement anvil is there, should the original need to be replaced.

good value for the money.

Craftsman made a great tool once upon a time but the current replacement blades are less than stellar. The old blades you used to get from Sears were decent and they do break if enough pressure applied but the new replacement blades are literally made of brittle glass it seems! Lol. I wish there was an honest company that made durable blades and charged a bit more instead of killing your wallet slowly with this cheap blades that break on the slightest pressure applied. Greed over quality it seems to be the modern business model. What a shame!
