Will these charge the controllers when plugged into a usb brick in an outlet? so not being plugged into a ps3.

No they are higher voltage plugging into a brick in outlet will not charge them I tried that myself.

Long cord which makes charging and playing at the same time much easier

This was perfect, exactly what I needed. My old charging cord died for some reason, and it was only 2 feet long. So, this 10 foot long cord makes it so much easier to play and charge at the same time.
