what is the difference between this model and the smallrig 2905 monitor mount?

Supports 5” and 7” monitor up to 1.2kg. 2. Swivel 360° and tilt 140° with free-stop in any position. 3. Features holes on thumbscrews for hex spanner. 4. Rubber pad on the top to prevent scratch. 5. CNC-Machined aluminum construction, robust & durable. 2905 Key Features: 1. Supports 5” and 7” Onboard Monitor up to 1.5kg. 2. Swivels 360° and Tilts 170°. 3. Tightness Adjustable on Each Axis. 4. what is the difference between this and the BSE2294 model?

BSE2294 mounts onto a camera rig. The other mounts onto a hot/cold shoe (camera flash mount). So if u are looking to mount this directly on a camera then u want this one.

how do you adjust swivel tightness?

there's 2 screw covers on the side of the upper piece. Just uncover those and tighten those up

can you take the cold shoe part off so it can just screw in?

If you’re a machinist type, sure. But they have this in other types of mounts. Why not buy the type that suits you?
