I would rate it as reliable as a Tranx but at approximately 1/4 the price. This reel has powerful drag and a great retrieve. I’ve purchased two 300 sized with single handles, left handed. Cons: - the handle will come loose due to the glue on the plastic screw going bad. This is fixable if you can confidently use glue. Worst case scenario, you buy a new handle. That being said, Big Con (why it’s 4 and not 5 stars): - The handle not being counter balanced has led me to bounce some super heavy lures off of the boat potentially causing damage. Bottom line: buy this reel and buy a counter balanced handle.
