This little Smart Plug works great!
My Amazon package was delivered the very next day after I ordered it.I ordered the HBN Smart Plug so I can turn on my lights while I'm gone on vacation from my phone. I have not used that part of it from far away yet, but while I'm in the house it works great. I do know it will work from my phone when I'm across the US because it works with the Alexa app. I wasn't going to set up the Alexa at first, but the directions were so detailed and easy that I went ahead and set that feature up. Oh my gosh I found myself playing with it. Now I'm thinking of all the things I can plug into the Smart plugs. I need to order more. This is really cool!!! I love that feature.I think this is a very good product. I know there is good customer service. The instructions are awesome. I't easy to set up. The price is affordable. I could not be more happy. I highly recommend this product.

Check your wifi!
These did me well for the 3 years I was at my previous house. It was a little bit buggy, but it might have been SmartThings that was acting up rather than the app (I would use my quick control panel to turn my lights on and off and it would lag until I opened the SmartThings app). But I recently moved in with my mom and it's saying it won't connect to her wifi bc it's 5G. Which, in this device's defense, it says on Amazon that that's the case, it just stinks because I don't want to buy another one. Worked well at the time though!

Been working great since 12/13/23
Purchased 1st set in 2023 and love them. Easy to set up and just work. Purchased 2nd set and box was torn. 1 unit did not power up and second unit would not set up automatically like the first set did. Returned for a new set which was easy to do thanks to Amazon.

Sporadic functionality
I landed on this product for three reasons: 1) the price, 2) the reviews, 3) the fact that some smart plugs came with 2 outlets. I bought four of the 2-outlet type, and 4 of the single outlet type. I also bought a 2-outlet outdoor smart plug. All 3 orders are on their way back to Amazon as I type this out. I've been an IT network engineer for almost 30 years, so I'm very technical.I bought these products to be able to turn on/off my Christmas decorations outside, as well as 12 window candle lights that have been working just fine with RF switch plugs. I wanted a solution whereby I could just hit a button on my phone and turn all candle lights and outside lights off at once, rather than going room-to-room hitting a button on a remote. I also wanted to be able to see if the lights were on while I'm not at home, so a cloud app was a necessity (I'm able to monitor the temperature of my upstairs and downstairs HVAC systems this way, as well as my outdoor cameras, which I love!).My WiFi router is currently operating in dual-mode (a.k.a Smart Connect). That is to say that it broadcasts a SSID for both 2.4Ghz b/g/n and 5Ghz a/n/ac 802.11 spectrums. So if something only transmits/receives in 2.4Ghz, like these smart plugs, it will accept those connections. I have a wireless AP in my closet downstairs, and a separate AP upstairs. All wireless devices in my house have no issues with signal strength at 5Ghz, so naturally 2.4Ghz is never a problem since that signal strength reaches further. My transmit power is also set to 100% for both spectrums. The set up for these devices is pretty straightforward. The instructions for all devices were identical and not very easy to read, so I just watched videos online. The app did not have a selection for my outdoor smart plug, so I had to take a guess on that one (again a video helped). Now here's where things got unpredictable and sporadic. Units that were farthest away from my AP, but in doors, seemed to connect very easily and stay connected. 2 units in rooms neighboring the closet (where the AP is) constantly showed "offline". These were clearly defective because I moved them into a room where it had clear line of sight, 10 feet from the 2nd AP, and they still showed "offline". The outdoor unit, which sat only 15 feet from the closet, just outside my front door, barely was able to initialize much less stay on the network and respond when I tried to interact with it. Some devices showed "offline" but would then come "online" when I walked into the room. I ended up spending at least an hour or two trying to get these devices to consistently show online, but just gave up in the end. I didn't bother with support, because I already wasted enough time on something that should not be that complicated. Seriously! They make thermostats, refrigerators, cameras and garage door openers that communicate better over 2.4Ghz or even 5Ghz, and can be accessed from home or across the country. But for some reason they can't do that for these smart plugs!!?? These were made cheap for cheap reasons.Buy these if you only have 1 or 2 devices, keep your AP on some table out in the open near those devices, and only operate them from your phone while in your home and maybe you'll get what you pay for!

Synchronization made easy; loving the app
UPDATE 12/06/23: It's been exactly one year since I installed these and they still work. It turns up all the xmas lights on at once. Very convenient. I love the "Reverse Scene" function that comes with the Scene scheduling. Basically, with that function, you only have to program a single schedule that covers both the ON and OFF times. How convenient!Installed 9 of these fairly easy. Already got mine to all start at 5:30pm and end at 5:30am.First thing I did was scan the QR code to install the app then ignored the paper instruction. The app is everything and all that is needed. To make the installation easy, don't plug this thing yet until you are on step 1 on the app (there are only 3 steps).Step 1: Plug it in, see the red light (it powers on its own) then click next.Step 2: Hold the power button for 5 seconds until it powers off, then you will see a red and purple/pinkish light alternating. Tap on the little circle to on the app to confirm.Step 3. Click next and let it do its thing for about a minute or two.Pros: The app is what sold it for me. It is much more user friendly and has better features than my Lutron app which I use use for my hard-wired smart switches, and I paid less for everything.Cons: Nothing for now but will update if any of them 9 I installed fails. I wish they were smaller coz they are taking up the space for other socket.Other thoughts:Always good to test once installed. Also, it helped that both my router and wired repeater are dual-band. 2.4 Ghz is really all you need; perfect for long range band and besides, it's not meant for passing any other internet traffic. It has one purpose. 5 Ghz would have been an overkill.

excellent
I got these for various Christmas lights around house. I have no home automation, but the HBN app is easy to download and easy to use. Before this I used those rotary timers you pin the pins in. I love the ability to turn them on and off remotely. I like these so much, after I was done with Christmas, I use a few in other places in house.

Better than Expected! Great product.
1/2 the price of the old school mechanical timers and so easy.I used the app off the instructions HBNSmart and it’s so easy to use. Only little hiccup was choosing the right plug and then during set-up you have to click the teeny tiny confirm button to get it to move forward. Small thing but important.During programming timer input sometimes doesn’t show as saves right away just keep going and it will be there when the screen reloads. These things are brilliant for the cost and convenience.

Works perfectly
I had trouble connecting to my network. However, these came with a second option allowing me to connect directly to each plug. That worked perfectly! I've got external plugs from the same company so they're all accessible from the same app.I'll be getting more.

Only one worked. Terrible customer service
O my one worked. I couldn’t get the other one toPair. Asked for a replacement and was denied as they stated I would have to do a full return for both and re order. Why? If one worked and one didn’t. Does not make sense. Threw the one that didn’t work in the garbage and used the other one for Christmas tree. Easy to turn on and off through the app and set timer. Still upset I paid for 2 and only one worked though
