Bought this specifically for tap dance. Works okay over a hard surface, but not very well at all on carpet. Tap dance works on just about any hard surface, you just don't want to damage your shoes. I asked the question if this rolls out flat before I purchased, and was told by a few that it does. Well, any plastic or PVC that rolls up is not going to lay 100% flat unless you permanently install it to a platform or floor. The edges curl a bit, more of an annoyance than a hazard. Difficult to take it out of it's cardboard tube, and difficult to put back in for transporting. Final thought, is I could have bought linoleum or made something from plywood and floor tile that would be better in different floor conditions. And way less expensive.

This is a large piece of smooth vinyl with a skid proof backing applied. It came with duct tape but no instructions. I need a floor to practice tap dancing. It gives some tap sounds but they're muted by my carpet. Putting plywood under it helped, but my linoleum scrap over the plywood sounds better. It's a good size for a small room and for basic practice. The taps dent the vinyl temporarily, and I'm afraid it would be permanent with time. Expensive alternative when my scrap of linoleum sounds better and it's free. It's going back.

Disappointed in with the lack of a tap sound. Also the surface was difficulty tap on.
