Bear Electric Kettle YSH-C18R1

August 24, 2024 ... Everything is still work great! I use the kettle about 5-6x per day... in the morning to heat filtered water for my pour-over coffee, also to boil vegetables or hard boiled eggs, and at night to heat water for tea! The only minor issue was the screw to the handle got loose, and I had to remove the bottle cover of the kettle pot to tighten the screw. No big deal, it took a few minutes. I have to say that the only option I use on the dial is the "BOIL" option ... that's it! As I have mentioned before ... I never leave the carafe "dry" I always leave a thin layer of water inside so that the air does not contact the stainless steel and cause it to oxidize or discolor. I scrub the inside of the glass and steel with a free scrub sponge and then I am careful to rinse out all the soap with out getting water on the underside plate of the garage, which houses the electrical contact. I keep it always disconnected to avoid any power surges that could fry the electronics ... something to think about. Other than that, this thing works awesome and my hat off to the company ... I would buy this electric kettle over again .. versus an all metal one. Nov 12, 2023 and so far 1 month into the use of this electric glass kettle. What attracted me to this kettle after many hours of researching electric kettles ... because there are tons of options on Amazon and many are cheaper but with lower power and more metal. 1. The 316 stainless plate no other Kettle uses 316L stainless 2. The all glass carafe with wide opening which is great to add noodles and easy to clean inside 3. the all glass tea infuser and pot inserts 4. the 1200W fast heating power. I was looking for a kettle with as much glass, with little metal or plastic that could leech into the water I am heating. Also, I wanted an electric kettle that I could cook noodles and vegetables .. in addition to tea. I hate waiting and wasting time and energy having to heat up a pan of boiling water to cook noodles or pasta. And finally ... this 1200W kettle heats water fast, great for daily tea in the morning and evening. When cooking a meal such as momofuku noodles ... I'll place it on "boil" and the drop in sliced mushrooms or other vegetables ... it takes about 4 minutes to reach 100C and boiling, I drop in the dry noodles and set my timer for 4.5 minutes. Once the timer is up, I pour it all into my silicone colander to remove the water, I place the contents in a bowl and add the rest of the sauce and ingredients. About as fast and easy to cook a meal. BOIL EGGS!? It can do this too ... Google instructions on how to par boil eggs in an electric kettle .. works great. NOTE!!! I see folks posting about OXIDATION on these electric kettle plates ... here is a trick for all these kettles .. DO NOT let the kettle dry out after boiling water! Leave some water covering the metal plate inside the kettle ... this will prevent the oxidative effects on the hot plate and air to dry out and form oxidation on the plate. If you keep a thin layer of water covering the heating plate, your plate will never show signs of oxidation!!! Just next time you are ready to use, pour out that water and fill with fresh water for your tea or coffee. ALSO!!! When it's hot, DO NOT pour cold water inside the carafe! AND ... ALWAYS USE FILTERED WATER since it has less minerals and salts like tap water ... a filtered water pitcher or similar ... do not use regular tap water! I'll keep updating as I use this everyday. The only thing I wish is that the "boiling" option would stay boiling a while longer, currently once the pitcher hits 100C ... it stops and goes into a warming mode. NOVEMBER 8, 2024 .... Still going strong, use it 2-3x per day to boil filtered water for coffee, tea, boil noodle, eggs, etc! Those that say it short circuited, probably you let water collect under the base or the electric coil. Oxidation on the plate ??? well, don't let it dry out, always maintain 1/4" layer of water inside the carafe and then oxygen/air won't combine with the steel and oxidize or stain the plate. Simple. December 30: AAAAA+++ Customer service! I received a replacement glass kettle, the original broke, totally my fault. I panicked at first because I use this kettle 4-6x a day!! Pandabrands Customer service, through Amazon message, was fantastic, no questions and they shipped me a brand new replacement! I uploaded a photo of the parts left over from the broken kettle and the new kettle! These guys have a customer for life! Thank you!

7/27/2025 Update: received my replacement pot (failed after one month) and it is working well so far. Revising the rating back to 5 star with its responsive customer service and warranty policy. Previous Review The pot is well made and feels sturdy and heavy. I liked the stainless steel but even more so with the pyrex glass. It meets my expectations and here are a few suggestions to make it more functional & perfect: 1. be able to display temperature in English unit (F) 2. have a dedicated Reboil button (currently I have to use the rotating dial and the LCD screen text is small to read 3. have a continuous boil button & timer But it is a very good pot and I hope to get many years of use out of it.

Even the function knob is in Chinese, the screen will show the choices in English, there are preset times but you can adjust it to your desire time, i love the pot is made of tempered glass, very safe to use while we are staying in the airbnb (i haven't brought it to a plane yet, so i don't know how fragile it will be.) Boiling function is little confusing, haven't test it properly yet, I love there are both chinese and english instructuons included. Noise level is pretty quiet.

It's so beautiful! It even comes with a stewing pot, perfect for stewing bird's nest, egg custard, or sweet rice wine. The colors are especially lovely.

It is easy to boil over, and the rubber ring cup handle feels like it will release bad substances, so it is best to replace it with stainless steel.

I used this product for making porridge. The reason I bought this product is that it contains a stew pot so you can cook porridge in it. However, after the porridge is done it is almost impossible to take the stew pot out. The reason is that the plastic/rubber ring (see picture) that holds the stew cup is too loose when it is hot or has food in it. Therefore, when you want to take out the stew cup which has the porridge in it, it will fall into the kettle (please see the picture). Then, it ruins the porridge and makes a big mess. It is definitely a design defect.

This is different with other kettles because it is made of glass so you can see the water heats up. Very cool. I have been used this for a long time.

Loved this kettle so much when I broke the glass pitcher, I bought a second one. However, both kettle bases seem to malfunction & boil over( even when I have little water in the kettle) the boiling water has broken both bases. I haven’t had them more than 5 months. I wish i could buy another one. I am afraid I will have the same problem.
