I have a standard battery operated lighted wreath that takes D batteries. It is heavy, but not super heavy. It fits well within the specifics to be used. I also have a metal gate, which I stuck one of these little guys on. It was slightly slipping. It held, but I feared that a strong gust of wind might take it out. So, I took the second hook and placed it slightly lower so the bottom lip of the wreath would also be connected. So, if you put the first at the top of the metal on the wreath and the second one at the bottom of the metal of the wreath, then you will be covered and that would create a stronger hold. I just like mine completely secure and that is how I got it to stick. I used it during the whole holiday season with no complaints and no issues. I know these will be great for years to come and I would totally buy again.
