The material is good quality, not as soft as velvet, but it is substantial and comfortable, and seems very durable. The piping makes for a great finished look all around. I didn't expect so much at this price, I was just looking for seasonal pillow covers to compliment my blue fall decor - but I'm sure I'll continue to use these for a long time.
