Wilhelm von Gloeden. Travestimenti, ritratti, tableaux vivants Hardcover – Illustrated, 1 Sept. 2013

It must be admitted that von Gloeden was not a particularly talented photographer, although some later, and greater, photographers were influenced by his work - look at Weston's 'rock' period, for example. What is interesting here is the wide subject range of the pictures; we are not simply bombarded by naked, adolescent males. Undoubtedly he concentrated on what sold well, but the non-commercial pictures are of interest - there's still not a lot of talent evident, but it hints that his generally rather narrow focus may have acted as a restraint. The text (in Italian) is not very enlightening, but does at least give some insight into the nature of the man.

Black and white photobook , includes a few photographs of young naked boys .Ideal as a smallish coffee table book . Text in Italian , no English .Would like to see many more pictures of nude boys with no pants on .Brilliant artist . I love it .
