Smooth gameplay with lots of options
This is my first basketball game in about 10 years so I can't compare how this year's version looks vs. last years. I have started both a GM mode and a Mycareer mode in this game so far. I wanted to get the feel for both modes since I am used to playing sports game where you control every player but have never played a game where I am only one person. The mycareer story is interesting. I actually like it but it is very linear so even if you don;t win the game, offers come in and you keep progressing. The GM mode is what I am used to so I am enjoying that. My only issue is I am terrible at the game right now. Even on rookie, I am losing games. I figure I will get better with more time but it is a very complicated gane with all the moves you can do.Graphics are great. Gameplay is smooth. It is hard getting used to players not having split second timing on going back and forth. You actually see delays when someone is turning. Definitely realistic. As for other customizations, I tried the scan your face which took some time and the end result was something that looked like a blob. I ended up going with a pre-installed face and customized from there. My player looks rather frankenstein"ish" fo the name Frek (freak) seems to fit!Was this version worth the extra money? Hmm...tough one. the Poster is OK. It is the picture on the box and my kids are fighting over it so that is goof. the fathead sticker is an absolute joke. I was expecting a wall sticker but it is about the size of an Iphone 6 plus. Not exactly what i was hoping for. The 30K in currency helped me with my player as I could quickly boost his stats. It would take me many games to earn that much so that was very helpful. I haven't found the Jordan gear in the game yet that I supposedly unlocked. That isn't why I bough this version though. I wanted the poster and fathead.....so I got one of those!I think this version is overpriced and not worth it unless you are a HUGE Jordan fan and already own every poster of him. If not, skip this and get the regular edition. But overall, this game is awesome and will occupy my time for a while.

Most Realistic Basketball Video Game I have ever played!!!!
This is the most realistic basketball game I have played to date!! No longer can you just run up and down the court dunking the ball all game. The defense mechanics got an enormous upgrade!! You actually have to run plays to get guys open. Sure, you will have the occasional fast break but no where near how often as last season. Some casual fans may not like this because they are so used to running iso plays and blowing by the defender for an easy dunk or layup, but this game is basketball at it's purest form!!The only thing that kept it from getting 5 stars is the super cheesy fathead that came with it!! I was expecting poster size, it's actually the 2 or 3 inches tall.. Although the 30 K coins and the bonus Michael Jordan card for your My Team is cool, I don't think it is worth the extra $20. Stick with the standard version.A very fun and challenging game!! Kudos to 2K for all the changes!!!

The best 2K yet
I've been playing 2K since ESPN NBA 2K4 with Allen Iverson on the cover and I can honestly say this is the most complete game yet.Pros:-Beautiful graphically-Defense is much improved-AI has gotten so much better-Plethora of game improved game modesCons:-While the Spike Lee Joint is definitely interesting, I think you should have other options as well. Being the character "Freq" can be a bit weird at times during the cut scenes as a white guy.-I feel it is too easy to lose the ball sometimes, even if you are controlled and not reckless with it. For instance, I play real basketball and it is not uncommon to drive to the basket and then stop on a dime to make a pass. But when I try to do that on this game my player goes into a super slow between the legs stepback animation and puts the ball in front of them, causing it to bounce off of the big men rather than just taking one dribble and stepping back to make the pass. I haven't had this problem in other 2k games and it really changes my playstyle.-Pro-Am mode needs to be fixedAll in all this is still a wonderful game with countless hours of replay value. I know people who aren't even basketball fans who love this game.

Not as bad as people have made it out to be
Not as bad as people say it is. Trust me, I hated having to watch the cut scenes during the game. Many of them were just unnecessary. However, I believe it was a cool idea to do, except it would have been better if there were options to choose from to see how your character story went about. The MyPlayer gets so much better after your rookie season because that's when the story cut scenes end. When it comes to getting this edition however, you should honestly just get either the standard edition or the early tip-off one because the poster is average and the fathead stick is smaller than the size of an iphone.
