Complete Croquet: A Guide to Skills, Tactics and Strategy Paperback – May 31, 2010

Provides a wonderful guide to to learning good tips and techniques.

As the title suggests, this book is a soup to nuts reference. While it based on International Play, many American Rules players will find it invaluable, because the topics on break running will be the same.However, that can be said for just about any book out there. What really sets the book apart is that it is (1) modern with great photographs of the current players from all over the world (including UK, New Zealand, Australia AND USA) and (2) it includes advanced level tactics (including peel sequences, leaves etc), and explains them well. For some reason or another, these two elements seemed unable to coexist in any other croquet book.So what is there not to like? Nothing.

The book is a modern and up to date coverage of a long established traditional sport.The information is well presented and readily usable by croquet players of all level, from absolute beginners to advanced international standard players. All should gain useful information from the book.There are also useful comments on the present state of the game and possible future developments

Although the book describes "Association Rules" Croquet, rather than the more complex "American Rules" croquet, that I play, the book is well written and offer a lots for all croquet players.

a wonderfully comprehensive and well written book. Anyone interested in croquet should read it.

I recommend this for any serious croquet player.

Very Thorough. Excellent diagrams

This book has some good introductory guidance and lots of clear photos, but despite the title "Complete Croquet" it is far from that. It is focussed only on the shots and techniques needed in Association Croquet and ignores Golf Croquet. So if that is the game you play, you will find little to interest you.

My dad has seemingly tasted blood since starting this game - the book it appears has given him the edge. In his most recent pic his openent looked jolly nervous!!! Also gave him mini desktop set to plot tactics and teach others game. He thought that was a nice touch!

Well presented book, clear explanations, pleasure to read and hopefully learn from.

I've knocked one star off for the hairy legs on the front cover which are a bit off-putting.

Excellent diagrams and photographs; with extremely good explanations. Pitched at the average player who wants to progress. Highly recommended.
