These are GREAT
I’ve been dealing with flies in my house for over a year. After a process of elimination, I suspected they might be coming from the recessed lights. While searching for covers, I came across this listing and saw that others had experienced the same issue. I decided to purchase 12 of these covers to use indoors, and they’ve been great. Initially, I was concerned that the rim might be too wide, but it fits perfectly and looks great. Plus, I didn’t have to remove any existing hardware.

Easy Install
Easy to install and addressed issue (wasps nesting in lights). Only product I could find like this!

Hopefully no more wasps
Last year I replaced the bulbs in my external recessed lighting fixtures with external LED bulbs. That means there was little heat to discourage the wasps from crawling past the bulbs to get into my house attic area. I purchased four of these light covers to install over the exterior recessed lighting to keep the wasps out. Two sets of two.On three of the four sets, the screen part was correctly installed in the trim plate. The screen was loose for the fourth set. It took a lot of force and a few minutes to install it. The trim plate fits into the mounting ring and is then turned to lock into place. None of the four seemed to lock into place. In fact, I could not even turn three of the four to the end of the mounting slot. I worry that the trim ring and the screen may come loose and fall to the ground. So far, they have stayed in place for two days and one thunderstorm. I will update this review if they ever do come loose. My house has permanent siding and sheet metal soffit (or overhang) vents with lanced holes in every other section. To install the mounting ring around the recessed lighting fixture I had to drill three 7/64 inch holes into the sheet metal. I then used the provided screws with my screwdriver to secure the mounting ring. I used masking tape to hold the mounting ring in place while drilling the holes. If you look at the picture you will see that the sheet metal soffit has a U area that goes under the trim plate and screen assembly. I worry that the U is large enough to allow an insect (or wasp) to still get to the bulb. My hope is that the screen comes into contact with the existing trim and prevents that. I can say that last night when I inspected these after the light had been on for about an hour that a bug had gotten past the screen. It could have been trapped in the attic when I installed these two days ago, or it could have been small enough to get through the screen. The bug was not there when I looked this morning.09/08/2016 Update: It has been a few months since I installed these. I have had to clean the light cover next to my front door to remove wasps twice now. I am sure that the wasps were coming from inside the house. (There have been no bugs in the last two months.) All screens have stayed in place. In fact the one next to the front door now locks in place when it did not at first. I have only had to clean the one cover so do not know if the others would lock into place or not. Based on how things are going I have decided to increase this from 4 to 5 stars.

Wasps No Longer a Problem
The wasps loved the canister lights and moved in, had families, and were rude. Searched for a solution: (1) home-owner spray (really bad idea), just live with it (also bad idea if wanted to use the front door), exterminator (better idea but the wasps and exterminator kept returning). Finally, discovered these canned lighting coverups and they worked. No more wasps and can enjoy using the front of the house once again.

Nice concept and reasonably quality execution
Nice concept and reasonably quality execution. The ones that I received were nicely packaged. The one flaw that I have found (haven't installed them yet as they arrived yesterday) is that the mold for the mounting rings left excess plastic "squeeze out" in the locking channels where the tabs on the cover insert into the mounting ring. This excess material makes the cover not mount to the ring (as in it didn't go in at all). Upon closer examination, I found the excess material, cleaned it out with a utility knife, and the one I fiddled with worked perfectly. The issue would be - for the average customer - that the rings are installed before most people assemble them. As a result, they'd have to remove the mounting rings to clean the channels where the outer ring and the cover tab join. A person who either didn't look first or doesn't know how to *fix* the problem will see it as a defective product as the covers will fall off because they otherwise simply don't mount securely.Such a simple fix for a great product. Not a deal killer for me, but if you're going to tout "Made in USA", make sure that the QC is up to that level that customers expect for an American Made product.

Made in USA easy to work with
Product is what is described. Easy to spray paint to match my outdoor colors. Easy to mount. I called the owner he was great and helped me out in a pinch. I love that these are USA made and not from China. We had a bat issue so these solved that, should have done this years ago. Bats were safely removed and no more worries going forward.

Better Than I Expected
I purchased the Recessed Light Cover Kit for our kitchen, living room, and bedroom, to replace what the builder put in 10 yrs ago. They far surpassed any expectation I could have ever had. They put what the builder had installed to shame. They are beautiful and I am so glad I purchased them.
