PROHEAR 036 Digital Electronic Shooting Ear Protection Muffs with Gel Ear Pads

As a competitive shotgun shooter, hearing protection is top of my list. I have used custom molded ear plugs with great success but they can move and feel uncomfortable. I was recommended these by another shooter and have been very pleased. Comfortable fit, (even fits my big head), great adjustable volume control. If I turn up the sensitivity, I can hear people talking 50 yards away, yet if a gun goes off, it clamps the pressure wave immediately. The only issue would be the sensitivity when in a windy condition. I just turn them down and problem solved. It's nice being able to hear other people in a normal voice level, yet protect you when the gun goes off. Very impressed and highly recommend.

Slim profile and gel pads very comfortable, better than I've had. First pair of electronic earmuffs I have bought or used, nothing to compare except passive muffs. The amplifier is great, normal conversation has been great, no more wearing muffs with one ear out. The gunshot suppression is not what I expected as the shot was louder than passive muffs BUT the loudest part was blocked so shooting was comfortable. Lower than 120db is suspect as not causing any discomfort even with large caliber handguns and rifles. In other words very comfortable to wear, hour at the indoor range cut sound perfectly but could hear conversation easily, just bought another pair after buying 2 as gifts for my sons. Reaction time seems faster than other brand names published info, is one reason I bought them, and had similar other features. Side cut helps to not interfere with checkweld, folding and unfolding a little awkward at first but fold up compact and tight. Strong construction and comfortable head band.

+ Gel earcups are more comfortable, seal better, even around glasses + There is a good amount of passive attenuation + Mics and cutoff threshold work as expected + Doesn't seem to eat through batteries as quickly as the first pair I tried + Folding works well + headband material seems like it'll actually last - The headband is pretty tight. ....I don't have a large head and yet I and both people I've had try this set have noticed the clamping force is a bit high for comfort. There doesn't appear to be a way to adjust this apart from wrenching on the memory wire in teh headband, so...be careful. That said, I was happy to find a set of this with the gel pads pre-installed and it's every bit as good as I remember from aviation headsets. Good double seal, comfortable, doesn't care about glasses. The only reason I would hesitate at all is to consider the bluetooth model instead, if you like listening to music, radio or podcasts while working. Very pleased overall

The big problem with standard ear muffs is that they drown out all noise. That's why a lot of times you see people walking around the range with one muff off their ears or with them hanging around their neck. The problem is sometimes you forget you have one off. These are great because they limit the high decibels of gun fire but you can still have a conversation without shouting at each other. They are simple to operate with a small battery compartment in one ear muff. Plus you can adjust the volume to your level of comfort. I really liked the feel of the ear muffs as they seemed like more of a gel than a foam. This allowed for more comfort and a better seal around the ears. All in all these are far superior in every way to my standard drown out everything ear protection.
