Wow - what a deal
A great deal - it's difficult to find any REAL surplus these days, everything is poor quality chinese knock-offs. I got a nice selection of styles, with two wood handles, and the rest plastic, but the plastic seems to be of good quality. They're not super sharp, I will touch up the blades, but machetes usually aren't super sharp, since you are hacking with them a thin edge wouldn't hold up anyway. I live in the desert, and I'm always trimming cactus and other prickly plants. These are perfect for that, snips just don't make it. I may buy another set to give as gifts.

Good quality for the money
To start with, the machetes arrived several days before the estimated delivery date. Excellent shipping! I don't know much about machetes and never owned one, but decided to buy one for yard work. I did my research, read reviews about various machetes offered on Amazon and on other websites and decided to buy these 5 Columbian machetes, for the price of one machete by known brands. I was not disappointed! I received 5 different machetes made in Columbia. In my case, all have wooden handles. They did not come sharp, but they don't need to be, for the kind of work they do. I don't know what type of steel they are made of and after about half an hour of work cutting twigs and shrubs, there are a few dings in the one I was using. I don't see that as big problem as it does not affect the machete's functionality. Worse case, if it breaks, I have four other machetes to replace it. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Not as pictured but ok enough
I got 5. They are all big. Good, unused condition. Not as pictured. I didn’t get the one I wanted (the wide Panga style) but for the price I can’t really complain.

Pleased as punch
Holy poop these are great, especially for the price. I love that they're a random assortment. Dont be upset that they're not very sharp. They're not supposed to be. It's a machete not a straight razor. The only downside is that I finished all my yard work before I saw them. Found some stuff to hack at anyways and they cut great. I love the giant icing spreader looking one.

Be prepared to work on them
you'll get 5 big knives of varying quality. some had no edge bevel, some were done poorly. only 1 showed up sharp, but with burned edges. most had a bit of bend. if you need some extra knives and are willing to get out your grinders and whetstones, it's a decent deal. I agree these seem to be knives that got tossed off the production line when QA found the warping. Or, one of mine had the wrong edge beveled along half the length, I think that's why it got pulled. These definitely were never issued or intended to be issued to any military.

Great workable machetes
Got these for the hubby. All were fixed tangs, the handles were both wood and plastic-in good condition, but he said were comfortable. All had factory edges (with some burning) and need sharpening (which he'd do anyway). We received one Colima (mowing/clearing large swaths of brush); two panga (thick wood/bramble chopping/slicing), and two Latin/bush standards (multiple uses- especially for camping). The weight was nice; fairly balanced, and none of the blades were warped. They came wrapped in cardboard and tape. Will update after sharpening, and good oiling, and use. With three of the five specifically for clearing, he won't have any more excuses!
