Just the ticket for a technician who "sweats through" everything in their pocket.
I gave the RITR No. 754 (3.5" X 5" memo book w/ Field Flex cover) a try because all my other notebooks (Moleskines) would get ruined by sweat and fall apart before I could fill them. These fit perfectly in a Dickies uniform shirt pocket with just enough room for two pens. The folded page sections, which are made from a very sturdy paper, are welded to the synthetic cover by a strong glue. The pages will curl, albeit not excessively, if you write with a heavy hand and bleed-through with a ballpoint is minimal. Furthermore, while the book is stiff enough that it won't lay perfectly flat, it's still flexible enough to conform to your pocket. No big deal for me, as I'll gladly sacrifice a little flexibility for strength. Additionally, I want to point out that the first and last pages will tear away from its opposite if you forcibly fold the cover open to fully use their space, but the glue still holds the detached page tightly to the cover; they're not going to fall out on their own. I also like that the cover barely peels at all from the edges and corners, a big disappointment with other notebooks that use vinyl laminated to a card stock backing and become dog-eared and ratty looking very quickly. As far as writing goes, you don't need a Fisher Space Pen for these when they're DRY. I have zero issues writing with a Parker Jotter and a factory refill. (Edit, 8/27/15 - I should clarify that "factory refill" refers to the older, NON-Quink cartridges. I haven't tried the newer style Parker refills, but anecdotal reports of their performance on RITR paper haven't been positive. Caveat emptor. As of this writing, I'm now using Fisher refills in my Jotter and they work superbly.) It won't write when wet, but the paper resists sweat so well that soggy pages are a non-issue. Whatever you write WILL NOT fade or wash away. With other notebooks, my notes would be faded to the point of being completely illegible after getting soaked with sweat. If writing in the wet is a must, carry a mechanical pencil (which I do anyway since I draft electrical schematics from time to time), or get a Fisher/RITR pen or refill. Speaking of pencil, I've yet to find an eraser that "works." Not even my Pentel Hi-Polymer erasers will remove pencil from RITR paper without lots of smudges/ghosting. That's not to say such an eraser doesn't exist (in fact, if you know of one, I'd like to know about it in a comment), but keep this in mind if you intend to use a pencil exclusively.Oh, and I guess I should point out in closing that this doesn't come with a built-in elastic band to hold it closed or a fancy pocket in the back. Big deal. This is a no-nonsense notebook designed to survive conditions that'd make a Moleskine disintegrate. I use a black hair band to hold mine closed. (Yes, a hair band. You can stop laughing. It works, and that's all I care about.)Bottom line: Despite the minor quibbles, these do their job exceptionally well, which is to keep my notes and references intact through rough use in the field. They earn every one of the 5 stars I give them.

100% recommend
I am currently in the conservation courses in college and needed a field journal that would work in all types of weather since most of my classes were outside. This works exactly how it says it does and it does indeed work in the rain!

It Does Defy Mother Nature
Background:I do a lot of external projects with working under the mercy of mother nature. Often times taking notes in the field can be challenging especially if water wants to have the best of you. My brother in law uses this brand for writing at his work site and suggested me to try this brand.I decided to try this pocketbook instead of spiral bound one. Also, I wanted something small in size that can fit any of my shirt or pant pockets, so this fit the bill compared to the hard-bound book or bigger spiral one.The Advantages:1. The stuff works as advertised. I have written with regular pencils and ball-point pens with no issues. Granted with regular ball-point pens you have to write in dry conditions.2. The size of the book is perfect for carrying around either in my shirt or pant pockets.3. The paper has a good feel when you write on it. You would expect it to be too slippery to write on, but it doesn't feel so.4. MADE IN THE USA.The Improvements:1. The number of pages in the book need to be more. Granted it will increase the thickness of the book, the book is still thinner than the phones.Considerations:The back cover of the book clearly states what type of writing instruments to use under which conditions.1. Best pocket notebook on the market.
This is the best pocket notebook on the market with one flaw. The pages are durable and waterproof. My favorite pen to use is the Sharpie ultra fine marker. I bought a Sharpie Pen and it did not work. It responded to the page the same way a gel pen does. The ink beaded up and didn’t adhere to the paper. Parker Quinkflow ballpoint ink and Fisher Space Pen react about the same. I prefer the Sharpie ultra fine marker because it is much darker and still waterproof after it dries. The one flaw is that I wish it was the same size as all the other pocket notebooks on the market like the Moleskine and the Field Notes. This one is a half inch shorter. The last picture shows the page to be a little wrinkled from the moisture but after it completely dried it is no longer wrinkled.

Neat little notebooks. Working in the government or any ...
Neat little notebooks. Working in the government or any professional business sect it is imperative to keep a small notebook to jot down notes, ideas, or other things you don't want to forget in, and the ability to write anywhere at any time is equally important if you have short term memory issues or a wondering mind such as mine. I also use these out and about while camping, or hiking.

The paper feels a little weird (a little like wax paper) and it's grey
I work in an air conditioner factory. I needed something to remember which particular version of a product I was making day by day, but the problem is, everything I touch is coated in oil, so normal paper is destroyed. This thing fits in my pocket and holds up to the oil. The beginning pages are beginning to be saturated with oil but they are still perfectly readable and show no signs of real wear.Something to note is that gel pens, fountain pens, felt tip pens, etc won't work with this due to the fact that the pages repel liquid. Ballopints and pencils work well. I just carry a pencil in my pocket. The paper feels a little weird (a little like wax paper) and it's grey, not white, but it serves a function and does a damn good job at it. Just out of curiosity i ran it under a faucet and it was absolutely fine. Definitely recommended *if you need it*

de volsillo
El tamaño es perfecto para el bolsillo, el detalle es que está un poco mas gruesa de lo normal, que pudiera ser molesto para algunos, en lo personal son mas hojas en donde poder tomar notas

Bisher TOP..
