This is made from actual wasabi root, not like the green-dyed "wasabi" made from horseradish powder that you get in restaurants.It's absolutely delicious.The flavor is more complex, and is refreshing compared to the restaurant stuff.I keep it in the refrigerator, so I always have an extra ready to go.Be careful with it though. The horseradish stuff in the restaurants has a "superficial" burn. This has more of a "deep burn" if you eat too much of it in one bite, which has left me gasping when I chomped down too much in one bite.A little goes a long way.

I’ve been using this product for some time now primarily b/c it appears to be the real thing (Japanese horseradish vs. horseradish available in the US). The flavor is outstanding. Having said that, b/c it comes all the way from Japan, the shipping time can be long. Don’t let that stop you…just plan accordingly.

We only buy and use this wasabi. Made in Japan. Taste is great. We compared it to another tube wasabi side by side and this tasted better. I have purchased more than a dozen of them.

This is definitely a step up from that standard grocery store tube of about the same size that's mostly horseradish... but that said this still definitely has filler because it's noticeably harsher then wasabi I've ground before which has more tingle than harshness. Bang for your buck though this is still worthwhile for being twice as much as that other ubiquitous tube.

This is not the same as fresh wasabi, but it’s far better than the green powder mixed with water we traditionally see in the US. I like to grab fresh wasabi root from the Japanese grocery when I can and grind it fresh. But that’s expensive and it’s not always available. This is more like a wasabi kosho, which packs a nice punch and is far tastier than green horseradish powder.I put this on everything. Sushi of course, but anything I’m looking to jazz up a bit. Sandwiches, roasted tofu, mixed into rice. It’s very versatile. I always keep one of these on hand, it’s a staple in my kitchen now.
