T50 Series.. Excellent Value & Excellent Speaker
I purchased these when they were $99.00 each, which was a steal. At $129.00 each, they still are. These are incredible speakers. I bought these for zone 2 speakers. To go into an adjacent acoustic guitar room I have, off from my living room. I run Polk RTI A7 Series Speakers throughout my living room. With a 15" powered sub, an Atmos 9.1 Onkyo AVR, using Klipsch for the Ceiling and everything else is Polk RTI Series, Center channel, everything. But just so I could really see what these T50 series were made of, I put these in my main front slots first, and cranked it up. They seriously held their own. I put on some Zeppelin, Van Halen, Nugent, and cranked it up. These are very impressive for the buck. Also, I backed down the sub altogether. Granted my other speakers do well on there own, but I was standing right in front of these. And across the sound spectrum, these handled all ranges really well. Good bass, mids and highs. For my purposes, perfect. For anyone needing a good set of startup speakers without breaking the bank, this would be my first choice. They are built solid and stand on a solid platform, and as usual with Polk, they sound great. And they leave a fairly small footprint. And just so you know, I have 4 stereo systems in my home. And just about every kind of speaker you can name. I'm what you call an audiophile. And an obsessive one at that.. But I do know my gear.. I started buying this stuff duty free back in the 70's when I was overseas and I just can't seem to stop.. So, all that being said.. You need some decent speakers.. These are good ones. You won't be disappointed. They are worth more than $129.00.. Probably shouldn't say that though..

Great value speaker
Fit and finish is great and the sound is full and lively. They will handle my receiver/amp's power output with the manufacturer's recommended power input of 20-100W/channel. Great highs and mids, not the most in your face bass though which I actually like. Bass is important to me but it shouldn't dominate the perceived audio spectrum, just my preference. If u require more thunder in your low end then you'll probably want to add a sub. So far, not required in my case. I may (probably will actually) change my mind in the future but at least for now it's adequate... I ordered this pair of speakers a few days ago and thought they were an excellent value priced at 74 bucks a piece. Today i see that they are $149 a piece, which is still an okay value i guess but im happy that i got them for less than half of today's price! I don't think i would've pulled the trigger at 149 a piece though as there are other offerings out there in that higher price range that would probably be a much better value. I notice price fluctuation here and elsewhere nearly on a daily basis so it would do a person well to monitor pricing daily and grab them when they go back down in price, at 74 bucks a piece i don't know if u could do much better in terms of quality and overall satisfaction! Watch that price daily and grab these when they go back to 74 bucks a piece, i doubt that you'd be disappointed! Seriously, how much quality do u expect from a sub $150/pair of speakers?? These did exceed my expectations for the price for sure! I've owned Marantz, KLH, MTX, Bose, Carvin and a few other speakers over the years so i DO in fact have a pretty good reference point and these Polks can compare to most of them for MUCH shorter dollars. If you're on a budget or otherwise just can't bring yourself to spend large dollars on speakers but still want decent sound then i have no problem whatsoever recommending these Polks! Just do it already, or don't, whatever lol...

You can't beat the price as a bundle.
I waited a couple of weeks before I reviewed these, just to get use to them, and allow a break in period. I wasn't sure at first what to think about these. My previous speakers were used for 30+years, so there was an adjustment period to get use to them. These are being used on a 5.1 system as they were designed for. My first immediate thought was the bass seemed off. To test for it, I disconnected my subwoofer. The bass response is OK, but they seemed to need just a little more "punch" to them, but overall, I don't have a complaint there. My second thought was that there seemed to be a balance issue between the woofers and the mid-driver and tweeter, so I kinda wish they had an adjustment put on them, just to give them a little more balance. I was sceptical on these when I saw the price point, the thought being that "never scimp on speakers", because cheap speakers will do just that.....sound cheap, no matter how great your system is. In this case, you'll get great speakers at an inexpensive price, and that rarely happens in the world of high end audio. I would also keep in mind what kind of music you listen to. In my case, it's classic rock, blues, and blues rock, so I listen to the high end, guitars especially. Your experience with these would be different if you listen to classical as an example. Overall, you'll get a little more than you paid for here, so, yes, I would for sure recommend these, provided you already have a subwoofer, if not, Polk does have a bundle available with the subwoofer as a part of the bundle, and they are 1-2 models up from these, so you might want to look at those, but if you have the subwoofer already, you really can't go wrong with this bundle, and I don't think you'll beat this price going with another speaker manufacturer. I still kinda wish they had an adjustment on them to balance the woofers and mid-driver and tweeter, but that's using my ears, your experience with them may be different, and once I get another equalizer, I'm sure I can make the adjustment there. So, if you're on the fence about buying these like I was, and you already have a subwoofer, these are worth it. You'll get more speaker than you paid for with these, and the sound quality is there.

Opinions after 6+ months of owning a pair
OK I don't write many reviews but this one deserved it. I love the products from Polk Audio. I own a 5.1 speaker setup and some other products that I have had over the years. I had been interested in these and also on Pioneer SP-FS52-LR by Andrew Jones. I live in Colombia so I needed to reship the speakers from US to Colombia and for that reason, weight was an important consideration. I was able to go to a Best Buy and they had both models I was interested in display, among others. I noticed the T50s were lighter (I'm guessing because they have passive radiators). Then later on black 2015 they reduced the cost considerably to 80 dollars each speaker. I decided to get them. My idea was to have a wireless setup using those speakers, so I also got a Chromecast Audio and a Lepy LP-2024A+ amplifier. It worked, but it was far from ideal. I was disappointed at Chromescast Audio and how immature it is. The system would sometimes stop working and I had to go to my Android/iOS device and star the queue again. Also, that cheap amplifier is not good to drive those speakers. I even had some humming noise coming constantly from one of the speakers and if I turned the volume past 1 o'clock, I got constant distortion. So finally I got a SONOS CONNECT:AMP Wireless Amplifier for Streaming Music , some 14AWG 2-Conductor Speaker Wire (50 Feet, Clear) by Mediabridge - Spooled Design with Sequential Foot Markings (Part# SW-14X2-50-CL ) and paired everything with a Acoustic Audio PSW-8 300 Watt 8-Inch Down Firing Powered Subwoofer (Black) . I can't be happier. The sound got so much better, no humming noise and the SONOS controller app is amazing Now, about the speakers themselves: the T50s are nice for a family room or in general for apartments (as in my case). Wouldn't recommend them for a larger room. Something important to keep in mind is that these speakers have passive radiators, which means the bass is not actively powered (no current to drive the lower frequencies). This means the bass is existent, but not abundant. I'm no basshead, but I'm pretty sure many won't find it sufficient. I would consider the bass on these speaker as "basic". So I recommend pairing them with a separate active subwoofer. The sound is very clear in general and the connectors in the back are banana plug-compatible. The T50s are well built, very stable and really good looking (this was also important to me because the wife factor). The grills on the from can be removed and put back any time. I'm not sure if you care, but the T50s have a closed frame (meaning they don't have holes in the back or front).

Very nice tower speaker
Good budget option for towers. Don't expect the world out of $250 towers when $1000 towers exist, but definitely worth the money and then some. I have them to match the full T series for surround, sounds great and fills the room nicely without destroying the bank

Accurate, Full & Pleasingโฆ
I love the accurate yet pleasing sound of Polk speakers, I think the passive radiators take the sound to the next level. A full spectrum of sound imaging can be found with a pair of these going through the right gear. The video clip has them going through a 1966 Fisher 500c tube amplifier.

With Black Friday pricing, this was by far the best value around!
WILL PROVIDE UPDATE AFTER SETUP/TESTING: I bought the whole polk T-series line of speakers T50 (2), T15 bookshelf (pair) and T30 Center channel. I also bought the 10" PSW10 Subwoofer and the 7.2 Onkyo TX-NR646 as the receiver. I got the T50's for $75 each Black Friday. Both Amazon and Best Buy were priced the same so I went with Amazon for the shipping. Correct me if I'm wrong but I can't find a better set of floorstanding speakers for $150 total. Consider this an absolute steal for the quality/price! After impulse buying, I finally went back and did my due dilligence and started researching whats on the market for a value based entry level setup. I came to the conclusion that this was a no brainer. With the Black Friday Polk deals, the whole T-series cost me $340. THAT'S IT! I know that some are unhappy with the composite sub radiators but coupled with a serviceable 10" sub I'm not worried. For around $650 I have an incredible new 5.1 set up with room to improve in the future. I will eventually add 2 more L & R back speakers and maybe 2 Dolby Atmos add-ons on top of the T50's. Not sure if I'm convinced that the upfiring Atmos speakers are worth the inflated price so I'll stick with the two add-ons to see how I like it before thinking about buying new atmos enabled speakers for a 7.1.4 setup since in-ceiling isn't an option. Overall very happy and can't wait for these to be shipped! Will be receiving the rest of the speakers in a few days. Unfortunately theres a delay on Best Buy shipping my receiver....

Really great speaker for the price
So I moved to a new apartment and was setting up a home theater \ sound system in a relatively large room. Initially I decided to just go for a big mainstream brand Soundbar + Sub. Bad idea - the sound quality of these mainstream systems just really isn't great. Sound quality in movies was very ordinary with the vocals being drowned out by music and SFX and for the music it just sounded flat. So I returned that system and decided to do the sound properly - but still wanted to keep it on a budget. I picked up the Pioneer VSX-932 on a special and 2 of these babies and wow what a difference it made. Even just with a basic 2 speaker stereo setup - basically the same ball park price as the Soundbar I started with - the quality just insn't comparable. These have such a greater depth of sound and wider range. Watching movies now there are sounds I previously never even noticed show up clearly on these speakers. Dialogue is clear and they have stronger base then the previous setup - even without the addition of a sub. Clarity across the whole range is so much better and music also sounds much better - with a richness and warmth that was completely absent on the sound bar. For those on a budget - these really do the job! Will likely build mine out with sub and eventually the full Polk 5.1 setup. Highly recommend - you will struggle to find anything else with as good "Bang for buck"

Lack bass and trebles
The Polk T50 is really light and that's part of the problem. It lacks bass because of it. The resonance body is missing. It also has no treble though. The mid frequencies are pretty clear, but overall I cannot recommend this speaker. It doesn't provide any excitement whatsoever. A fairly old and cheap Sony T-40 from 20 years ago performed better in comparison.
