This is because there is no room for water that has gone from cold to hot in your water heater to expand back into the main city supply line due to the check valve in the pump. If you call Davey directly I think you will find they recommend an expansion tank be installed. Otherwise you may experience overflow going into your drip pan or on the floor, depending on your water heater installation. **Q: How loud (db) is this unit?** A: Not too bad, I wouldn't want to sleep beside it! I keep mine pretty secluded, sounds like a normal pump. Simple and dependable to use, been using this pump for 10 years. **Q: This pump will be pulling from an outdoor storage tank so input pressure will be low. Is this the correct pump for this application?** A: This model will add 58 psi to your incoming pressure. So for example, if your incoming pressure from the tank is 10 psi then the boosted static pressure would be 68 psi.
