I decided to get a small, sports metronome to help pace me at the right cadence. You can check your turnover rate manually by counting for a short period (i.e. 15 or 30 seconds) while running to measure your rate but that isn't very effective to actually do some muscle memory training to develop a good cadence. Seiko makes a model that looks very similar to this one but it costs between $25-35 depending on the model and where you find it. This model looked like it had all the same functions (plus a mini-jack plug) for a little over $5. Since I wasn't sure if I'd even like using one I wanted to keep the price as low as possible.Just got it and used it for the first time. I'm very impressed after the initial use. It is very small but seems pretty sturdy. I found it fairly intuitive and easy to set up, which was good because English does not appear to be the native language of whoever wrote the included instuctions. It has WAY more options for different rhythms and tempos than you'd need just for running. It's pretty obvious this device was actually designed as a small, portable metronome for real musicians. However, it's size, design, features, (like a built in belt clip, etc.) make it perfect as a sports metronome, too. I cannot tell how well it will stand up over time as I've only run with it once. However, as mentioned, it appears well made and pretty sturdy.The ONLY downside I've seen so far is the time it took to ship. It took about 4 weeks. This was not a surprise as the ordering site clearly said it has a 30-40 business day standard shipping time. I thought that might be an error so I even e-mailed the company prior to ordering. They confirmed the shipping time and I suspect it's because it actually shipped from China. I considered ordering the Seiko because I could get it quicker but I couldn't justify spending 7X to get a very similar product that I wasn't even sure I'd want to keep using after I ran with it once or twice. It was worth the wait. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Convenient for Acoustic Guitar *by F***N on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on February 21, 2014* This metronome is great! It's tiny and is easy to use for practicing guitar. I clip it to my guitar strap up near my shoulder and am able to hear the beats fairly well over my loud acoustic guitar strumming. There are many options, including the "tapping" option that allows you to tap along with a song to determine the BPM. If found it's fairly accurate (within a couple BPM, but that could just be that my tapping's slightly off). Anyway, this thing is great. My only complaint is that I've only been able to get the volume to level 2. Whenever I set it to level 3, it turns off. (For this I'm docking 1 star on my review). I'm not sure whether that's a a low battery issue or whether it's just overloading the circuits and level 3 is only meant for headphones (I've been using it without headphones). Anyway, it's a great purchase and for less than six dollars, it's terrific. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use but audio through headphone jack is LOUD *by V***U on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on September 29, 2014* I was looking for a metronome to use with running. I own the Seiko metronome but I wanted something with a headphone jack so I wouldn't be audibly beeping on my runs. I picked this up since it seemed highly rated in addition to being cheaper than the Seiko.The beeping comes out of an external tweeter if you don't have headphones plugged in; conversely beeping only comes out of the headphones if you plug them in.However, the beeping that comes out of the headphone jack is painfully loud, even at the lowest volume (there are three discrete volumes to choose from, as well as mute). I wish they would either reduce the volume for the headphone jack or offer a volume knob instead of three volume levels. The volume is so loud I can't even use it with headphones plugged in.
