## Description

Gingher Knife-edge Dressmaker Shears are meticulously crafted of premium, forged steel with long, precision-ground blades that cut multiple layers of fabric easily, all the way to the tip. The longer cut length makes them the ideal craft scissors for cutting patterns, trimming seams, or cutting long swaths of fabric. The double-plated chrome-over-nickel blade finish is both striking and durable. A bent handle design helps hold fabric flat on your work surface for smooth, comfortable, mistake-free cutting. These Fiskars scissors also include a protective nylon sheath for storage among your other quilting supplies when not in use.

Review: Welcome to Your Sharp and Quality Pair of Scissors - These scissors look and feels like professional scissors. Even though people over use the words "cuts like butter", these 8" scissors are very sharp and cuts through thick material very easily. I had to cut through a stack of two pieces of cotton material and two pieces of batting together and it cut through them with ease. If you ever need to use the scissors outside of your home, it comes with its own hard cover sheath to store the scissors so you don't accidentally cut yourself when reaching for it. One end of the scissors is tapered, which makes snipping ends of extra material away very easy. Don't forget to lightly grease the scissors if you are not going to use it for an extended period of time. This will keep the scissors from forming rust, and always store it in its sheath after use as this will also help to prevent rust, especially if you live in a humid environment. Like I said earlier, these are a large pair of scissors, 8", made to cut through lots of material. Even though it is pricey, you wont be disappointed with this purchase. It is easy to carry with you if you sew while on vacation or just on the go. Because it is a sharp pair of scissors, always store it in its protective sheath. If you take care of these scissors, they will always be there when you need it. Oh, every now and then, tighten the screw and nut because it will eventually work itself loose. Happy Cutting! Happy Sewing!
Review: Excellent, but not the best fabric shears on the market - I compared the following fabric shears, listed in order of how well I liked them: 1. The Kai 7250: 10 inch Professional Shears N7250 (7250) - Professional Shears 2. The Gingher 10 Inch Knife Edge Bent Trimmers (Note: I list these here because I prefer this length, but I only tested the 8" and 12" models below.) 3. The Kai 7300: 12 inch Professional Shears N7300 (7300) - Professional Shears 4. The Gingher Knife Edge Bent Trimmers 12 5. The Gingher G-8T KE Tailors Shears, 8-Inch 6. The Gingher G-8 8-Inch Knife-Edge Dressmaker's Shears 7. The "Kai 110: 11 inch Tailoring Shears S-110 (S-110) - Professional Shears" 8. The "Kai 7240-AS: 10 inch Serrated Edge Shears N7240-AS (7240-AS) - Professional Shears" I bought all the Ginghers on desertcart, and all the Kais from their web site (desertcart doesn't sell them). I evaluated them by cutting eight 4" long layered sheets of lightweight cotton fabric at once. My criteria were: - smoothness of cutting - was the edge straight, or did it wave? - comfort of scissors (hand position, weight, tightness of grip) - how often did I have to open the scissors to cut the 4" fabric? With all 8" shears I had to open them too often, resulting in more effort needed to get a straight cut. With all 12" shears I had to open them too wide, which was difficult even with my very large (size 10+) hands. I thus settled on a 10" pair. The Ginghers are all excellent -- better than any of those colored-handle shears I've tried. They are rumored to last 25 years, and they're not that expensive ($25). Of those, the tailoring shears were ever-so-slightly smoother than the dressmaker shears. Not sure why. But the Kai 7000 series were simply better. They're smoother, lighter-weight, sharper, nicer engineering, and they offer a $14 sharpening service. Wow. Them's be some sharp scissors. Holy cow. Did the "let's gently run my thumb perpedicular to this blade" test and a minute later realized I was bleeding... Didn't even feel it. Must also say the customer service was top-notch. They sent me the 3 pair I wanted to test in advance, and didn't charge my card till I picked the one I liked best. Yes, they're $70. But Gingher's 10" pair are $50, too. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, I'd get the "Gingher G-8T KE Tailors Shears, 8-Inch" ($25). If you're looking for the best fabric shears period, I'd get the Kai 7000 series (the 10" ones for me). Update (01/09/2013): A fellow reviewer pointed out to me that desertcart now carries some of the Kai shears. I have added links above to those they carry at this time. And I still recommend looking at the manufacturer's web site. They offered me super service -- really above and beyond.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: where are they made?**
A: Made in Italy. I am a made-in-USA kind of guy; in this case i made an exception, and could not be happier.Worth every penny.Great product!

**Q: How do I get them sharpened. Can I get my small scissors sharpened Also**
A: I have always gone to a Kitchen or Food supply warehouse. It cost 5 to 10 dollars. You must do some serious Fabric cutting. I have had this brand (in 7") for nearly 40yrs and never had to get them sharpened. I know if you use it to cut paper, it really messes up the blades. But yeah, either a Kitchen or Fabric store can offer Knife/Blade Sharpening. Hope this helps. Happy cutting!!

**Q: Is this product made in the USA?**
A: No...like most (if not all) Gingher scissors, these are made in Italy...they are, however, first rate quality...sharp is the devil, and very precisely ground and meshed...

**Q: what is this scissors made of? Is it chrome plated by any chance?**
A: As far as I know, none of the Gingher scissors are chrome plated. If they are, they look just like my Singer scissors, and appear to be well made and stainless steel. Have never seen them labeled as chrome plated. The only "con" I can see is that the blades are joined with a fastner which protrudes somewhat--like a bolt. But, with this feature, the blades will be easier to resharpen in the future. The fastner does not hinder the cutting action, and the blades are extremely sharp.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tickled they finally arrived
*by I***Y on April 1, 2026*

So tickled they finally arrived! I had broken my sewing scissors the day I ordered these. So frustrated, sooo frustrated and right in the middle of a project. It has taken a few days longer than expected, but at long last they have arrived. Best investment in sewing equipment to date. Easy on the hands, sharp (take note), all mental construction, and well deserved reputation.
