It is silky and smooth on the dogs skin/coat..And the mild soft fragrance definately helps with that “doggy odor.”...It contains primrose oil which I believe is the only ingredient which helps restore the suppleness to the canine dermis that is dry from atopic dermatitis...I sometimes use it to wash my hands and this prevents them from becoming dry ... My dog loves the feel of this shampoo on her skin .I can tell it is gentle .. I will sometimes add some organic primrose oil to it if there are additional dry areas I notice on my dog that may need a little more intensive treatment.. I have spent hundreds of dollars on shampoos on the market and medicated shampoos from the vet and this shampoo has been the best so far.. In fact I believe all those other prescription shampoos made my dogs skin condition worse with all the harsh chemicals that strip the dogs natural oils from their coat/dermis...Thank you Isle of Dogs for making such a wonderful shampoo for our K9 companions!

**Q: do you need to use a conditioner with this shampoo and if so is there one in this brand that would not be an issue for itchy skin?**
A: I do not know of conditioner with this line. This shampoo leaves coat so shiny and well conditioned I have not felt the need for conditioner.

**Q: Is this product made in the USA?**
A: Yes.  The company is located in Germantown, WI.

**Q: Umm. The label for this item says 1 gallon, but in the technical specs you list 15.3 oz. That's a liter, not a gallon?**
A: No its a liter...this stuff is amazing though. I have three dogs two small pomeranians and a standard poodle this makes their coat so soft and the the smell is amazing.  It has great conditioning effect

**Q: How much shampoo are you supposed to use each time you shower your dog?**
A: I just use what I think the dog needs to lather well.  We have another dog now, and it works so very well on both dogs.  No itching, keeps them from smelling between baths (we bathe them weekly). The wonderful thing is if we have to give a bath in-between, the shampoo is so gentle that we can.  It has been the best and only shampoo that we will ever use.  I have all my friends and neighbors using it, too.  All have been so pleased.

Bought this shampoo with my dogs sensitive skin in mind. Shampoos and conditioners have been known to irritate his skin and I was hoping to find something a little less harsh. My moms dog also has sensitive skin and has done well with this shampoo. We have been incredibly happy with the results. The scent is mild and pleasant and we get comments all the time on how beautiful and silky his hair is. No itchiness, no redness! Personally, I have always used evening primrose oil as a supplement so I thought why not try it with my hair? It is fabulous! I use it when my hair and skin feels dry and malnourished. We will definitely keep this on hand for both of us. Worth every penny!
