Next best thing to a clunky locker
You really can not beat a true track if you don't want to go to full Locker have this in the front of my 97 Cherokee and works fabulously couldn't ask for more

Locking to the front axle.
A very effective self-blocking device that fits well with the advanced truck system.

On road is great, can't wait for an offroad test
Installed this in to the front axle (Dana 30) my 1990 YJ when I did a gear change. I have about 500 miles on it so far but no real offroading yet, I will update since I have a trip coming up soon. Why this one:I bought this since instead of a true locker for a couple of reasons... 1. I removed the axle disconnect and upgraded my front axles to TJ ones so the front diff is always spinning. So with this type of diff, it should not affect on road driving too much2. With a true locker, you are more likely to break stuff since you can really put all of your torque thru one tire and in my situation I put a 4BT diesel in my jeep and I also have a Klune V 4 to 1 crawl box added. If I'm in double low and put all of my torque thru one wheel, I will break something. I know I am sacrificing some capability on the trail but I think my drive line will last longer.3. I wheel with a buddy that has a Rubicon and he is always locking and unlocking front diff so he can make tight turns. This seems easy but he either forgets at first to unlock it so he does not make the turn or I end up waiting for him since it takes some time to unlock. Like I said, this is a little thing but when I'm wheeling, I have enough to think about.4. I did think about putting a posi in to get similar benefits but with a gear locker I won't smoke the clutches.Review: Its only been in for about 500 miles so far...On road is great, I don't even know its up there. The only time I know its there is when I'm backing out of a parking spot with my wheel cranked. The tires will drag a little. But during regular driving she handles just like she did before with an open diff. So I'm happy with that!Off-road,I have not had a chance yet to put it thru its paces. I will be going to Rausch Creek in a couple of weeks and hitting the black trail where I broke my Dana 35 last time. With this up front and my new 8.8 out back I expect to finally finish a trip with out breaking. I'll update on how it performs.UPDATE 9/10/15Did a long 3 day weekend at Rausch Creek. The diff performed great. I was able to do a lot more than before. In mud and with good tire speed it acted like it was locked. On heavy rocks crawing in double low (my crawl ratio is about 162 to 1) she would spin one wheel pretty easily but if I applied some brake it locked right up nice and hard. I was able to climb rock shelves no problem...As for the toughness... It lasted the weekend but the diesel engine broke the main shaft either in my transfer case or the spud shaft in the Klune V. Either way it lasted longer than the drive train. I'm happy with it..

Excellent Limited Slip Differential
I ordered my 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport S with open differentials because I did not want the optional factory $300 rear Trac-Lok. Detroit Truetracs have a reputation for being bullet proof limited slip fully automatic diffs. They're quiet & lock up fast but act as open diffs when traction is good. These helical gear diffs are smooth & maintenance free. If you're on ice or have one tire off the ground and it's spinning, you can trick the diff to lock up by tapping the brake, otherwise they lock up on their own when needed. These LSDs may not be true lockers but they operate automatically without cables, electrical or air. The 912A585 is the correct P/N for Dana 30 JK with 3.73 & numerically higher gears. The 913A589 Detroit Truetracs are the ones you want for Dana 44 JK rear axles. Just be aware, that Eaton may not honor the warranty with tires over 33 inch. These should be installed by a professional shop that knows how to set them up properly.

For my 2011 Jeep wrangler unlimited
I recently had my Jeep re-geared and wanted to also upgrade it's overall capabilities. I saved some cash getting these on Amazon. They work great and now I'm just getting to the point where I can really put them to the test ( had to break in gears first). These are completely invisible in everyday driving situations but kick in just when you need them (front diff only in 4wd). I can feel when they do kick in and transfer power but its very slight and only for a split second. I wish these came factory because after re-gearing and installing these I'm at about $1300 per axle in upgrades. I do also like knowing that my Jeep is an unstoppable tank now, very reassuring!
