To say that I love Bible's is an understatement, and any time I find a Bible that makes it easier to read and navigate God's word well, I am interested. With "The Wayfinding Bible" it did just that. I am one of those people who likes to open the Bible and jump right in, but with the "Wayfinding Bible" I had to read the directions on how to use it, but once I did it was easy to navigate. The plan that I used was called the "Flyover" route. It gives the reader an overview of the Bible in just 54 readings. There are three additional plans, the direct route takes the reader thru the Bible in 215 readings, and the scenic route gets you thru the Bible in 386 readings. The final route is called the thru hike which takes you thru every word of the Bible in chronological order.With the plan that I used I got a general overview of the Bible, but did feel like I missed some pretty significant parts, so this plan might be best for someone who is a bit more familiar with the Bible. So many things really caught my eye with this one. First of all there are plenty of color maps, they are so bright. That's thing with this Bible the bright colors used really made this such an eye appealing read. There are introductions to each book that help explain why each book was written,what the book is about and how the book will help point you in the right direction toward Jesus. The historical markers that are scattered through the text that focus on locations and events that are taking place in the scripture providing a more in depth look. There are also scenic overlooks and side trips that also enhance the journey thru the scripture. I loved the pictures that are used thru this Bible, I have found myself flipping thru the text to see them, they are so informative, really taking the scripture to the next level. The only thing that Tyndale could improve with this one is to give us study notes, otherwise a Bible that will certainly help you on your travels thru the Bible, allowing you to choose the route that best suites you based on the depth you want to dig and time you want to spend.A complimentary copy of this Bible was provided for review.

The Wayfinding Bible might be looked at as a shortcut for reading through the whole Bible or as a structured set of readings to move believers through the key passages of Scripture allowing the reader a grounding in scriptures that they might not otherwise have.The Bible provides three avenues for reading the major themes of the scriptures. As explained in the introduction:* The “Flyover Route” provides 54 readings that give a chronological overview of the events of the Bible.* The “Direct Route” provides 215 readings that allow the reader to gain a “full perspective” of the entire Bible and how it fits together.* The “Scenic Route” provides 386 readings through both well-known and not-so-well-known passages.Along with the three scripture reading paths, the book provides a number of other helps. An index is provided to all three paths - giving a title for the event described, the relevant passage from the Bible, and the page on which each milestone is located. Along with the three reading plans, there are a number of side trips (e.g. The Afterlife, Angels, Don’t Be Afraid, etc.). These side trips are followed by a suggested plan to read through the Bible chronologically. The Wayfinding Bible also provide a number of brief dictionary entries in context - another index in the back of the Bible provides a guide to finding these, if necessary. Other helps include a list of Old Testament “Pophecies of the Messiah”, a list of Old Testament quotations found in the New Testament, and a mini-topical index (“Points of Interest”). The final pages of the Bible are the traditional Bible maps covering both the Old Testament and the New Testament.The Wayfinding Bible is a nice mixture of a devotional Bible and a study Bible. Depending on the readers interest and readiness, it could serve either purpose. The devotionals are at times, scholarly, theological, and devotional. This my favorite translation of the Holy Bible. I have been reading it almost daily as my devotional since purchasing it in the fall of 2013. I am currently on the tail end of the Scenic route. This version of the Bible has accomplished its goal of getting me to read the scriptures daily, something I have never done before with any reading plan or devotional. Blessed kudos to the staff that put it together. I have been reading it on the Kindle app on my tablet and phone for the last six months. The Kindle option would be the best way to try it out before purchasing either the Kindle or paper version. With it available on Kindle it is always with me when I need some inspiration. Praise the Lord!Update Feb 2018I continue to use this wonderful bible as my daily devotional. It took me over two and a half years to get through all 3 routes (Flyover, Direct and Scenic.) Now I read the Scenic route over and over. I plan to start taking some of the Side Trips as well. I am so fond of this bible, I have gifted it to my siblings and adult children. I put money is as bookmarks hoping they would open up this bible and start reading it. Sadly after a year I had to inform them about the bookmarks. That is the way it is in this world. The Good News of the Gospel is out there for you to choose. If you reject the message, that is on you. If you accept it, your life will change forever. Like this wonderful bible you will find peace and comfort it the messages it contains. God will bless all of you who continue to read it.

I bought this after seeing someone else's copy. I love it. Love the way it's layed out and pictures of the Holy land. Pictures are as close as I'll ever get, so really nice to see things which are spoken about in the bible. Enjoyed the"route " I took and now going to go back a follow the next one.Already bought a copy for a freind as a gift, and will be buying more.

such a unique way of studying - starting with the flyover to get the taste for the wonders of the Word - dipping deeper and then full on- three ways to relate and learn to become on a deeper relationship with God. Awesome.

I had this bible recommended to me by a friend and I love it. It's not just your average bible! It has historical context included as well as fantastic routes to choose from. It makes it really easy to read, especially for me who was a bit daunted by it! I would recommend this to everyone as a really easy, enjoyable way of getting into the bible!
