This is a great insert if you'd like to make your own camera bag. I looked at many, but the main reason this one won is because I can fit my entire camera configuration in it without having to disassemble anything if I don't want to. I use a Nikon D800 with battery grip and usually with my Sigma 35mm ART lens. The Sigma is quite a bit bigger and heavier than it's Nikkor counterpart, so finding a bag insert that would accommodate my camera with it still attached was a little challenging. I currently already have a monstrous bag to lug all my gear around in, but I really wanted something a little smaller to just carry the necessities. I shoot a lot of documentary work with my own kids, so I prefer to be able to pull my camera out ready to go, rather than have to reassemble everything before I can start shooting. Kids move fast!This bag insert comes with two removable compartment dividers that attach to the inside with velcro. I ended up only needing one. What makes this one even a little more clever is that even the top is removable and configurable to your liking. Or you can leave it off completely. The yellow color is also really fun and a pretty contrast against the navy blue bag I put it in. The padding seems pretty sufficient, and I feel like my gear is well protected. I definitely recommend it.

It’s a nice, padded insert that can turn a backpack or messenger bag into a camera bag. I cannot find a camera bag I really — they’re either too big or small with too few or too many features. They can look super technical or flashy and tend to cost a lot of money. I already have too many bags I like, so rather than spend the money on a single or limited purpose camera bag, I pop this into a backpack or messenger and I’m good to go. The bright yellow “lights up” the interior, making it easy to see my gear. It looks good and works well, and the price is great. I recommend it.

I bought the yellow insert to place inside of a waxed canvas vintage messenger bag that I already owned and wanted to convert into a less-conspicuous and less-sporty carry-on and carry-around camera bag. It did the trick during a recent trip to Europe. This arrangement protected my three cameras during travel (in airports and on-the-go) and gave me the additional security that 'extras' like rolls of 35mm film, lens caps, charging cables, lens cleaning pens, etc., would not get dirty or lost. (I also bought a pad for the strap, which really saved my shoulder...link below.) So happy with this insert. I put it in my messenger bag and now my camera is secure and I get to keep using my messenger bag instead of buying something a lot more expensive. The eye popping yellow makes it easier to find items.

I liked it -- but returned it. First this insert was too big for the bag which I intended to use it. I suppose the dimensions were accurate, but I find the stated dimensions on bags and insert to be "iffy".This insert IS well made and has good padding, hence 4 stars. However, the top flap is, in my opinion, useless. As a working tool, inserts need to not only organize and protect, but enable fast and easy access to your camera and lenses. How does a top flat support that? The only way to make this a WORKING item is to fold the flap over behind the back surface. This adds unnecessary bulk and weight. Had this insert fit in my bag I MIGHT have lived with this and just cut off the top flap. Which would have been a shame; I would have had to send an apology to the seamstress for having to perform surgery on the good work.I had good communication from the seller, so I am keeping this review at 4 stars because of overall quality and the good communication. I wish the company well.

Turn any bag into a camera bag for your DSLR. Padded insert, fold over cover...I had an old canvas brief case bag, this fit perfectly. Carry around my camera and lens. For the price, looks good, and is functional. Good company, fast delivery.

This is great if you have a messenger bag that you already are using. I just stuck it into the existing bag and boom, camera messenger bag.Just as an FYI, the lid comes on upside down. It's just velcroed on, so you just flip it. Material seems water resistant, but not water tight. Well, I like it!

I purchased the insert (not the entire bag) and so far it has done a great job protecting my camera. I was able to fit this in a average sized backpack. The top of the insert is removable as well as the inside linings. I would like it if the top zipped up to fully enclose the contents, but still it gets the job done.

Most of the options on this page are complete camera bags; to be clear, I'm reviewing the standalone padded insert ("SLR Dslr Camera Insert Shockproof Padded Liner") that you put into your own bag. It's a clever idea and for me it was well worth the money.Most dedicated camera bags struggle to fit an A4 pad, so are not so useful for journalism or other jobs where photography isn't the only priority. Adding this insert to a cheap unpadded messenger bag lets me carry a DSLR and spare lens, flash etc in reasonable security, plus an A4 pad or a notebook computer. And it's versatile, since you can move it to another bag, a suitcase or a backpack.The "lid" is held in place by velcro, so you can remove it for easier access to your gear – that's a neat touch.

I wanted a camera bag that wasn't obviously a camera bag. Already had a messenger type bag and this insert has been used in that. Able to take a camera with lens and a couple of other lenses and seems to protect them fine. I am beginning to prefer it to 'proper' camera bags. It is versatile to as you can change the configuration to suit what you are using it for.
