Snap Circuits - UC-70 Upgrade Kit SC-300 to SC-750

This is a nice upgrade for young and advanced learners. We've had a 12yo and 5 yo successfully implement some of these fine upgrades. It has been a very nice addition to our grown Snap Circuit collection and can implement with other kits for a variety of more complicated patterns. It has been a lot of fun for all of us.

My career was as an electrical engineer. But, I started in electronics at age 5! At 12 years old, I passed the Novice class ham radio license. I was the first ham in town and I had no help. By 13, I had passed the General and Advanced classes. I designed many projects, including a one tube transmitter that worked the worl.The thing that stops many people, especially young children, is soldering. This kit doesn't require that, nor do any of these series. My nephews loved the basic kit so much that they stole batteries from TV remotes, etc. so, in addition to this upgrade, I bought the battery free A/C adapter.This kit expands the number of projects and the knowledge of the children (or adults) who use it. I want SO bad to play with this! Maybe Santa will get me one! Buy it! Even if you bought the first kit, you can add this one. Or, do as I and buy the next kit for a birthday, Christmas or just because it expands a child's knowledge in this strange texting in another language, spending all day looking at a computer, video games, etc. It is a fun way to LEARN!

My 7 year old loves his Snap Circuits. He received the SC300 as a birthday gift and immediately wanted to upgrade it as he saw that their were more parts available. They have reached almost the same status as Lego! Yes, as mentioned, some experiments are duplicates. However, with the Student Guide, it offers great education and play.We also purchased the power adapter (no more batteries). Then after frying a few transistors, we purchased him the Student Guide to teach him more about the individual parts (and how not to fry them).Elenco has a FREE lifetime warranty on the pieces of the kit for individual consumers! How awesome is that. I assumed my son would have to buy the parts he fried. Nope. Elenco has done an excellent job assuring that kids will be able to enjoy their kits and not throw them out after frying one piece (like other companies kits). This kit is actually two kits packaged together inside of one, larger box. Note that though there is a CD shown on the box cover, it is not included in the box (though there is a space for it). However, it was clearly noted by the description that the CD is no longer included. You however do get the manual and a link to download the software, which is a very basic oscilloscope and spectral analyzer, connected to your computer using the microphone input.In general these Snap Circuits are great for an older child, our 10-year-old loves them. However, it would be less suited for someone trying to learn electronics, as many projects rely in ICs where the functionality is hidden, and there is not a lot of explanation of how circuits operate. This is a great introductory set however for getting kids interested in electronics and are a lot of fun.

My grandson loves these kits. He got one for Christmas and begged for more. The first thing he did after the package arrived was make a solar panel. He was nso proud of making it work. Only thing is there is a kit numbered before these kits. They are numbered and each kit builds on the last. He wanted to make the radio, but parts were in the second kit. He has 1,3,4. His mother got him the 2nd kit, made his radio then went all over the neighborhood showing it off.

This is one of the best education toys you can find on the market.My boys (7 yrs and 9yrs) loved them.The only down side was the durability of the toy, very easy to get broken. But the good news is, the company will send you the replacement parts for free without any questions. This was the reason form me keeping on buying from them, since I don't need to worry about the broken/missing parts.My boys get this toy out so often repeatatively.Overall, I think this worth the money I spent. Highly recommend it.
