Deeper In Sin (The Wicked Dukes Book 2)

Love is worth fighting for
Good follow-up book to "Deeply Inside You." With love and patience, Sophie Ashley helps the Duke of Caradon accept that the childhood trauma that the Duke suffered was not his fault, nor the guilt of what happened while he was in Ceylon. It may have taken a while for the Duke to "wake up" to the fact that Sophie was the best person for him, but in the end, he won over Sophie's objections to their marriage and a chance for true love and happiness.

So much promise unfulfilled
This book started with a bang and ended with a whimper. Sophie was sooo unbelievably annoying. A good swift kick in the behind would have solved all these problems. The sex was not hot or aww inspiring. Wish I could get my money and time back.

Maybe 3.5 Stars
**I received an eARC of this book from the publisher and NetGalley, in exchange for a honest review**I read this book immediately after reading the first book Deeply in You - which I LOVED. So maybe I was expecting too much and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed with this book. I liked it - but it was nowhere near as good as the first book.I liked Sophie & Cary - but they were not as memorable as Helena & Grey. Sophie was just a little too sweet and eager to please. And Cary was a little too wishy-washy. Don't get me wrong - they were both likable, but she fell in love with him within hours of meeting him and he was trying to be noble - he's keeping her, then he isn't, then he is - it got monotonous. And unlike Deeply in You, which had a fantastic mystery/villain, this one seemed drab compared. Which surprised me, the storyline had the potential to be outstanding, but ending up falling flat.I didn't even really enjoy the love scenes, they lacked intimacy - which I know seems unbelievable, but I didn't feel the deeper connection between them. Sophie came across as a wanton - she was always trying to seduce Cary - I know why she did - but it came across as insincere.I also had this issue in the last book Cary tells Grey that he loved Grey's sister Jacinta and never got over her. He reiterates in this book that he was in love with Jacinta and let her go - he never has a moment where he reveals that he was not in love with Jacinta or that his love for Sophie was deeper or different. And the same goes for Sophie and her first love - I don't like that - I want once in a lifetime, soul mate love from the hero & heroine. Maybe the fault is mine - maybe I expected too much from this book.I will read the other Wicked Dukes books - Sax is interesting, but I am not sure if I really want to read Sin's book - because of a revelation I read in this book about his preferences - but I probably will.

Erotic world of courtesans
Welcome to the erotic world of courtesansSophie Ashley found herself in a dreadful situation. She desperately needs to find a protector so that she is able to provide for her young son, her close friend and her children. Thrown out by her adoptive parents for having a child out of wedlock and pursued by a nasty lord that is trying to force her into becoming his mistress, Sophie finds herself in London. She is seeking entrance to the world of the famous London’s Cyprians. With determination she knows she can gain access. She has prepared herself and has gathered information from a journal that she carries. It is written by her mother, a courtesan, and it details and chronicles her rise and love affairs with many powerful men in London. With the journal as her guide, Sophie gathers courage and successfully gains access to a lavish Cyprian Ball. There she meets our hero, Fitzwilliam MontCleif, the Duke of Caradon – and known as Cary to his close friends.Cary rescues Sophie from a sticky situation during the ball and in doing so sparks hope in Sophie that he may agree to become her protector. Little does Sophie know that our handsome duke carries with him some very heavy emotional damage that prevents him from offering more than just friendship. But Sophie does not give up and makes it her mission to try to help him through. With a murder-mystery story backdrop we find these two lovers moving through the decadent world of lust and sin, looking for answers to solve the mystery.Sophie is very innocent, but is very open to what she sees around her, and wants to be able to please Cary. Not only because she is falling for him but also so that she can help him emotionally. At times she seemed to be a bit too eager and not very sure of herself. She did go forward into any situation readily; but at times it felt that she was missing that courage that you find from a strong heroine. She makes it up in her sweetness and love for her hero and you could not help but pluck along to see the book through.Cary is a strong hero. He is handsome and courageous, and you could not help but feel so bad for what he is going through. The effects of war and childhood tragedies where finally weighing down on him. Finding Sophie to soothe his soul is just what he needs. This is an erotic novel, and there are some pretty spicy scenes stored within, but nothing too shocking. Overall it was satisfying.I would give this novel Four Stars. The murder/mystery story caught my interest and did surprise me at the end. The heroine was a little disappointing, but the hero made up for it.*ARC provided by author/NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.www.romanceandalloftheabove.blogspot.com

Deeper in Sin
Sophia is a naive young woman who went to London to become a courtesan in order to feed her family and to get away from Lord Devars. She sees the Hero the Duke of Caradon (Cary) from across the ballroom and is instantly attracted. Cary sees her later and saves her from a brute who was handling her roughly. This is the start of their romance and each falls for the other while trying to save each other. Cary is haunted by his past and is trying to move on and Sophia decides she is the woman to help him through it.The romance in this book was good and believable the ending is sweet and summed up nicely no loose ends. The mystery was interesting and had great potential but there was something about the writing in this book that sounded immature or something I cant put my finger on it though. I have read many books by this author and loved them so I have to think it is just the book itself. I will definitely read the next book in the series and more by this author.I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Silly & inconsistent characters; poor plot
This features a heroine who morphs between extremely naive, painfully trusting and outright stupid, while the hero is sometimes a complete cad and other times rather a wimp. The plot is ridiculously far-fetched and I really found it quite hard to get through to the end because I couldn't believe in the characters or the plot. I have enjoyed many of Sharon Page's other books, but this just isn't in the same league at all. Very disappointing!
