MAD SHARK 7 inch Kitchen Knife with German Military Grade Composite Steel

This is an attractive cleaver and is well made for its purpose. I have seen a few reviews saying the knife was damaged when chopping through bones. The description states this is a vegetable cleaver and a cleaver made for butchering and chopping meat with bones is going to be much heavier and use a tougher steel. This is a lightweight cleaver for veg prep. That being said it this cleaver is definately capable for that purpose. It has smooth pakka wood handle with a mosaic pin that is ergronomicaly sculpted for a comfortable grip. the steel is full tang forming a nice bolster and pommel while the blade section is a full flat grind. This is strong construction for good performance. Many other cleavers in this price range are made from stamped sheet steel so the blade wobbles and flexes while also giving the knife poor balance. This knife starts with a thicker steel stock and grinds down the edges while leaving more metal at the handle forming a bolster. this means the knife is thicker at the spine which eliminates flexing and the heavy bolster balances out the weight. This is excellent manufacturing at this price point. Lastly the knife comes sharp and maintains an edge well. I do not use it every day but I do use it a few times per week, hand wash and dry it and have not had to do any real edge maintenance to it yet other than the occasional pass over a butcher's steel.

Oh man, I absolutely love this knife! It is heavy, but in a good way. It looks great and is EXTREMELY sharp. As I told my wife, you don’t need to fear the knife, but you better respect the knife, especially when washing it. If you get in a hurry washing this beast you will either pull back nubs, a mutilated sponge, or both. This thing goes through potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes, etc. like a dream. The only two things I would change about it would be for it to have a full tang and for the blade to be scalloped. Other than that, everything else is perfect. I would buy this knife again in a heartbeat. Once again, I can’t emphasize this enough, DO NOT underestimate how sharp this knife is. **Update** 09 March, 2022: this knife still amazes me every time I use it. It still looks and feels as good as it did new out of the box and maintains a VERY sharp edge. Since I only use it to cut/chop vegetables and boneless meats, I cannot verify how well it would maintain its sharpness if I were to cut bone with it. Regardless, I didn’t buy it to hack bones and for what I use it for I couldn’t be happier with it.

Nice weight but not much of an edge

Was a Anniversary gift for my husband, he was very happy with it.

Very disappointed with the quality I had for a while and never used until I started my new job. Cut some corn and the butt end broke off. As seen in picture, had options to buy a different one but decided on this one. Bad idea. If company reads this please send me a new one. Replace fault craftsmanship.

Wife is a great cook and we needed this. Made life much easier. Tremendous quality and VERY sharp. Will be a family heirloom

Bought this for my brother and he loves it. He’s got a chefs kitchen that’s been kitted out like a professional. It’s always difficult to buy for him because he’s got so much awesome stuff in his kitchen. I’m really happy that he is enjoying it.
