Pen and Cope ❤️
K Webster writes the BEST MM romances🖤...and I will die on that hill.Wicked Lies Boys Tell 5/5⭐Straight but gay for you trope....gets me every damn time.I was so sad for Pen in the beginning and was convinced I wouldn't like Cope but he won me over with his possessiveness over Pen. This book had all the spice, angst and emotions I needed to get me out of my book slump.

Loved This MM BFFs-to-Enemies-to-Lovers
4/5 ⭐4/5 🌶️I really loved Cope and Penn. This was such a great storyline with interesting and deep characters. I always love MM spice, especially when one is gay and knows it and the other one doesn't and is just letting his friend "practice" cause he doesn't trust anyone else. This book was pretty dark, especially at the end... They really got the short of the stick with their dads.Cope's development was really well done. I hated that they spent 2 years apart because Cope was ultimately scared and didn't know how to handle Penn, but it played well into who he was. I loved his possessiveness and protectiveness over Penn, especially when they were on the double date. He was always there to protect him, even if it was mostly because he was jealous.I loved Leah and her friendship with the guys. I was half hoping this would turn into a MMF just because I wanted her HEA too, so I was really happy when she was heavily featured in the epilogue and happy as I could have hoped. I love where everyone ended up.

THESE BOYS!!
I was told over and over again to read this book, and for some reason, I held off. Well, I definitely shouldn’t have. This book is SO GOOD!! Penn and Cope are EVERYTHING!!This book is an enemies to lovers, bi/gay-awakening book. This trope is increasingly becoming my favorite!! Penn and Cope used to be friends but for the last two years, Cope has completely shut out Penn and “hates” him because of things that happened during a drunken night. The boys come back together after a fight breaks out between Penn and another boy at a party. Penn PUSHES Cope’s boundaries and it. is. everything.I loved that it did not take long for these boys to go from enemies to lovers, and for Cope to give in and realize how much Penn means to him. The chemistry between these boys is explosive; absolutely breathtaking! The way these boys have each other’s backs as they go through things with their families and the gossip from their friends is how everyone should be with their friends and/or lovers. The spice—ohhhhh the spice!!! I loved that these boys jumped right in and never looked back. There were some doubts on Cope’s part but I LOVED that he was willing to try anything, and DO anything for Pen!! The love they share is so damn beautiful!! Alsoooo, PREP!!! There was allll of the PREP!!! I love when authors make it a point to make sure the prep is talked about!!! The spicy scenes aren’t lengthy, but they make up for that with the amount of them that are dispersed throughout the book!!Seriously—if you are AT ALL thinking of picking up an MM book, make sure this one is on your list!! If you’re a first time MM reader, this one is definitely for you!!

It was ok
I love a good M/M book and this was only so-so for one glaring reason. Sarina Bowen has already written this story and it’s one of my favorites of all time. There were moments in this book that almost seemed pulled word for word by the book Him(which as I said is one of my favs). I also listened to this on audiobook and it had the same narrator’s which made it seem like I was listening to the high school version of Him. Sorry to keep harping about that book. I gave it 3 stars because the story was decent and the sex was pretty hot, otherwise I may have gone lower than 3 for repeating another book only with younger characters.

Too much soap opera
I had high hopes for Wicked Lies Boys Tell because of all the glowing reviews. Well, taste is subjective and unfortunately this did not light my fire. It was just too OTT and dramatic, even for high school kids. Penn McAlister, the Football Jock and Justice Copeland the artistic goth have been best friends since they were babies. But now they’re 18 and they haven’t spoken in 2 years because Penn dared to kiss Cope. One kiss and Cope lost his sh!t and went stomping off to sulk and date the goth chick Ivy because he is NOT GAY. Cope feels Penn betrayed him and their friendship. I could have felt more empathy for him if not for the previous constant parade of sleepovers, putting their heads on each other’s chests, running their fingers through each other’s hair and entwining their legs together. Like, what the heck did he think was going on?? I get that they’re both poor little rich boys and their families are mean, and their fathers are sh!t and they’ve comforted each other…. but seriously lets at least concede mixed messages not warranting a big stomping off.The book opens with Cope coming back into Penn's life and having missed his friend wanting to pick up where they left off. With their FRIENDSHIP because NOT GAY. But Penn is gay and that’s okay and he should go have some gay sex and get a boyfriend and then things won’t be weird. Except no one is good enough for Penn. All those OTHER gay guys are CREEPY. So, it’s decided. If Penn wants sexual experience, he’s going to have to practice with Cope. But just PRACTICE and NO KISSING because NOT GAY. But thankfully eventually Cope works his issues out to prison gay, sort of gay, boyfriends gay, all-in gay. Cope’s weird reactions put me off. It was clear he was in major denial, but the story didn’t do a good job of really clarifying how he got from point A to point B.Then there was the soap opera in which their story unfolded. Everyone’s family is stinkin’ rich and rules the world and all the parents are cartoon villains. Every single one of them would drug their children and rob them of a kidney if it furthered their social ambitions. I didn’t feel the connection between Penn and Cope and the larger story was ridiculous so….not a win for me.

Wicked Lies Boys Tell - K Webster
I love Penn and Cope’s relationship and their determination to protect it and each other from both of their horrible fathers. The mental and physical cruelty inflicted on their respective sons is mind boggling.Sometimes such stories hurt so much I have to stop reading and distance myself for a few days. This happened here just after Penn was beaten up by his father. Cope saves him. Thereafter the story takes a completely new twist and wrapped up so quickly. The two main characters had super chemistry and it was so easy to connect with them. There were a few other characters who were school friends with the guys whose stories would be interesting to follow up if the author were so inclined.Warning, there is some parental physical abuse so be aware.

One for the re-read pile!
Absolutely fell in love with this book! Besties Always. Two boys against the world. Battle after battle befell them. They even had to battle each other, but every time it was them who won. They had each others backs always. I just love them so much. The sparks between them created an inferno. Years apart spent in anger boiled over in the most delicious way. When Cope finally accepts his feelings i heaved a huge sigh of relief. I loved their love. It was truly beautiful.Extremely well written. Engaging and gripping. I loved every word. Every line. Every scene. Brilliant!I'm slowly working my way through this authors back catalogue and i find i love each one more than the one before. She's really diverse which i love but the m/m ones are my fave! She has real talent for them. Highly recommend!

Absolute perfection !!
This in my opinion is K at her best. When she writes deep, moving, emotional, heartfelt beautiful books just like this one she gets my total full attention and then add MM into the equation too and it was the icing on the cake. Don't get me wrong I love all of K's books but stories and words like this book when she writes are perfection. Two best friends that have known each other since very small boys, an argument that leads to a fall out for two years. This is Cope and Penn's story about their lives and their sexuality. It is deep and meaningful. Absolutely beautifully written at portraying these two young men and the situation they find themselves in.Broody sexy hot alpha males, both with hearts of gold and good intentions, emotions flowing from every page, this book was just incredible in all ways. This one is definitely one of my favourite of K Webster's books, it's up there with The Day She Cried and The Whispers and The Roars.Don't miss this one, absolutely brilliant!!

MM goodness
I love these two guys! This story had me gripped, waiting to see how their relationship would develop. Cope had to come to terms with his feelings, and I loved how he fully embraced them once he fully recognised what it was he was feeling for Penn!"There was no gay or straight. No right or wrong. Just us. Penn and Cope."This is a gritty MM romance that will leave you desperate for more!

Brilliant !
I absolutely adored this book. We see an unhappy Penn at the beginning of the book with his former best friend Cope having ignored him for the past 2 yrs. Certain events lead to the boys getting their friendship back and Cope beginning to realise his true feelings was beautifully done and heartwarming. An angsty emotional read and loved the bond and hot chemistry between Penn and Cope. This book has definitely become one of my all time favourite reads.
